I had time today to finally read the recent change logs, and I noticed that mobs now do even less physical damage (and internal trauma) and that some common source of physical res from devotions are removed. This changes seems at least to me to have as goal to reduce the importance and the impact of physical damage overall, but I’m curious about the “true” reasons behind it. This is absolutely NOT a critic to the developer, I’m simply curious (and too stupid to figure it out on my own).
Cheers!
I think overall that phys res in the past was unfair; you had warlords witchblades blade masters etc stacking large amounts of armour and phys res; while other classes weren’t able to keep up in either regard; making them inherently glassier. Overall relegating phys res to some devotions and cutting back the amounts or removing them outright from classes makes the game more fair for those classes that could never get it in the first place. Also, armor became more impactful as well so it’s another option for tankiness that’s a bit more readily available.
Actually I asked the same question today on discord because I don’t know either. Yes nightblades lost ~10% physical resist but they gained more armour than they really needed to compensate that loss I feel. And with the aspect of the guardian change now reverted all that’s really happened is that aura of conviction lost ~4% and in devotion we lost one 3% node (the other got moved). And of course nearly everyone now has more armour even though the gains were lowered today.
Yet enemy damage was lowered (again) as well. I feel the net result is less physical damage taken overall. I may be wrong and I probably am, but that’s what it feels like to me.
Thanks for the explanation!
I don’t have enough experience to evaluate this changes, game seems balanced to me but probably there are lot of builds that suffer from lack of physical res.
