So I was reading the patch change log information and I came across this;
“Increased maximum number of times the game will attempt to reroll an already learned Blueprint or a Unique item previously dropped in the current session from 5 to 10”
What exactly does this mean? Is this something to do with how long you are in game before this attempt happens? What exactly is it attempting to re-roll? Are unique items counting legendaries as well? How long do I have to be in game for this to happen? I mean there is only so much you can do before you have to restart your session in the campaign.
If means when the game tries to give you a blueprint, it will check if you already have that blueprint. It will then continue trying 9 more times prior to giving up and saying ‘screw it he has enough’
As for the unique items I guess the game also does this with blue/purple items to try and make sure we don’t get duplicates? But will instead give us duplicate 10 if it fails? Or something? I never noticed it mentioned unique items until you pointed it out…not sure how that works.
As I understand it, in the case of blueprints, if the game has determined that a blueprint will be dropping, it then rolls on a table of blueprints to determine exactly which blueprint will drop.
However, if you have already learnt that blueprint, it won’t drop again, so the game goes back to the blueprints table and rerolls for another blueprint. It continues to do this until it either drops a blueprint that you haven’t learnt, or until it’s rolled 10 times on the blueprints table. If it reaches 10 tries without having found an unlearnt blueprint, then nothing drops.
The process is similar for unique items, with the game not dropping the same unique item more than once in a session. The reroll means that if it determines that (for example) a legendary weapon is dropping, but that that item has already dropped this session, then it will attempt to reroll it to get something that hasn’t dropped in the current game session. It will now try to reroll 10 times. Re legendaries, this increased limit is probably only going to be of use for people playing pretty long sessions.
I have had the same legendary drop twice in a game on a few occasions , the last time it happened it was within 5 minutes of each other . So I’m not sure it’s exactly the same .
Can’t believe it tried 10 times to give me something different but ended up with the same one , bit weird if so
Not sure since the last patch though , I don’t think so .
Well if I understand that correctly that is an annoying way to weight it. I mean there are hundreds of blueprints in the game now so getting the one I need may never happen essentially. Is that per chest or per enemy that it rolls ten times? If it rolls on the table ten times per enemy or chest that might be slightly better but still awful odds.
My understanding is that it’s any/every time a blueprint would drop. If you have the randomly selected print that would have dropped, it randomly selects another, up to 10 times per instance of a drop.
Maybe you’re seeing an angle I’m not, but that seems like fantastic odds to me, as compared to one try and then “screw it”.
You are right, it’s fantastic odds compared to only 1 chance. The odds though become increasingly slim as you collect blueprints. According to grimtools there are 322 blueprints. As the loot table gets smaller and smaller, the chance to drop one gets smaller and smaller. The last blueprint would have a .3% chance to drop, regardless of what the blueprint is. For some, it might be some crappy yellow that doesn’t matter; others it might be the legendary helm they need to complete their set.
Although very true the patch change does make the odds 100% better believe it or not. It used to only check 5 times. I too am frustrated by these odds as I have several sets that need one item to complete yet because I have so many uniques, they seem to never drop. I play solo and it is my opinion that if a game actually requires trading then an auction house/trading board or something similar should be included.
