I’ve found some information on the internet that you can increase your block chance through gear so that you’ll be able to trigger “on block” skills, even without the shield. Is it true?
can’t block without a shield, your char sheet will even outright display this
Ok, I understand about not blocking actual damage, especially since the shield itself adds your “flat damage blocked” value, but are you sure that stacking “% chance to block” without a shield won’t somehow make triggered skills that happen “on block” work?

I posted this question in case anyone already knows. I might satisfy my curiosity at some point, but for the moment I’m going to wait to see if anyone has tried it already and knows the exact answer. Because it would be interesting to use a lot of triggered skills on builds without a shield.

it’s because it’s not about blocked dmg, but blocking itself,
and char sheet accurately displays this the moment you take shield off; block chance goes to 0 too
while i don’t know if technically there is a way to mod block chance to somehow still apply without a shield/how the internal shield interaction is applied, in vanilla, even with 100% block stat outside of a shield, like you a mod a (non-shield req)devo to passively give you 100% block chance, when you swap to a 2hander/caster offhand, chance goes to 0% still.
0 chance of blocking so no blocks triggered, also for purpose of procs, ie no shield no anvil hammers (also even if not outright stated in devo)

It’s actually good that it works as expected, because otherwise it might’ve looked like a glitch.
