Canister Bomb as a damage skill?

I don’t get the fascination with canister bomb. Grenado is better in every single aspect.

But you do you man.

Flame Torrent is better for DPS but Aetherfire works better when kiting slow opponents. Your choice I guess. The key concept is to attach a no-CD skill that deals extra DPS when repeatedly proc’ed to CB as to take advantage of CB’s multiple explosions, proc-per-explosion and high proc chance.

A canonical CB sorcerer should get 38% CDR on average and 40% CDR somewhat easily if both pistols have 5% CDR each. Getting 16/10 Ulzuin’s Chosen (36% chance) is easy, 18/10 (38% chance) is harder and 20/10 (40% chance) very difficult without sacrificing resists. Taking full advantage of UC also requires either very fast reflexes with an eagle eye on the hotbar or holding down the CB hotkey for a bit longer. Neither are ideal.

So let’s assume the worse case: 38% CDR with 36% UC chance and a 0.75 second delay before you notice that UC has proc’ed and you press the CB hotkey again. Assume canonical gear choices (see Avyctes’ example) and no TD.

(1-0.36)(8-1.5-1.5)(1-0.38)+0.36*0.75 = 2.254 second cooldown on average

In my opinion, this is still not bad.

EDIT:

An alternative way to UC-check is to repeatedly press the CB hotkey until you see “That skill is not ready” on the screen. That message lasts for about 3 seconds, which is very close to the un-UC’d CB cooldown. So you can re-cast CB once that message disappears. This technique requires you to time all your other cooldowns correctly though. The biggest upside is that you don’t need to keep your eyes constantly on the hotbar but closer to the center of the screen.

Well, with your calculations, a toggleable button to auto cast canister bomb, and grenade every single chance (set parameter in software to every 0.0001 seconds force cast) and utilizing devastation, and transmuted BWC, sounds like optimal build setup.
