GFN wants the default launch option to be the working one, without any errors.
Basically a container that doesn’t require any manual labor to get working.

Then GFN needs to update the Steam client on their machines to support the default launch option.
But is there other games with this issue? I meeeean I don’t think they will do it only for Grim Dawn sadly.
if GFN is running their servers/clients on linux, isnt’ it on their end? - they need to update to make it linux compatible (again) since GD isn’t natively linux supported
*the thought occurred to me because Deck users had to switch to either either the new proton branch or the compatibility selection Rhis added - but if GFN isn’t doing that on their end/you can’t as user, then it seems like an impasse without the linux compatibility since it’s not native in GD
How would Crate know this info? Only GFN would know.
Nvidia responded to my ticket, just asked them if they had a ETA for a resolution… doesnt seems like it will get fixed anytime soon sadly.
“We are currently working with the game developer to identify and resolve the compatibility issue. If no meaningful progress is made within the next week, there is a possibility that the game may be removed from the GeForce NOW library.”
If that’s true and it turns out that this can’t be resolved/gd be removed from GFN, then i regret it a lil bit to get FoA this early on Steam, and should’ve waited sigh
Tough luck i guess. Hopefully it can get fixed/sorted out.
tell them/Nvidia to try switch to proton experimental branch or enable the linux compatibility launch option setting, “that thing that worked for everyone else”, in your next ticket ![]()
Maybe they can use AI to tell them how to do it! ![]()
Get a refund i guess and come back if they care fix it
Got the same issue with GameNative. Not very happy with that… So sad.
For playing GD via cloud gaming, Boosteroid works great and costs less than GeForce Now. It opens a Steam session, you launch the game through Steam compatibility, and the quality holds up.
I have totally switch on Boosteroid right now.
Boosteroid doesn’t really work for me. It gives worse image, worse input lag and I couldn’t even choose the server I want to start session on… So, still waiting for GeForce Now fix. And it seems like GD is the only one game with this issue (at least by looking on Reddit and official GFN discord).
Any news if this can be fixed?
Wait i get money for playing on Boosteroid? Because Grim Dawn is in the Free-tier and so far didn’t have to pay a single cent for playing on it (except of the games itself).
I’d be grateful if this could be fixed, please.
Yes, actually, you need to pay a subscription to use Booteroid even if Grim Dawn is in the free tier, which is not the case on GeForce Now.
Crate need to fix their build, nothing GFN can do until then
I guess we won’t be playing anytime soon, guys ![]()
I’m a software engineer myself and honestly I can’t believe the solution is “just wait Nvidia”. As far as I can tell from the GFN subreddit and Discord, Grim Dawn is currently the only game affected by this particular Steam compatibility issue :\
Expecting NVIDIA to make changes across all of their machines specifically for Grim Dawn seems reeeeealllyyyyy unrealistic, and I doubt it will happen anytime soon. From their perspective, it would probably be much easier to simply remove the problematic game from the service and move on
