Doesn’t really matter what the argument is by the OP. It isn’t grounded in reality, unless they are some all knowing prophet (I wouldn’t be using my time here if that was the case).
You can’t sit here saying the skill is DoA when other channel skills exist and this forum (or any other that I visit) is not flooded with complaints about be stunned all the time while using said skills. There is only 1 complaint here.
This reminds me fully of the anti sunder crowd who didn’t want to waste time moving out of it or didn’t have “twitch”reflexes to deal with it (some of which have placed LE on a pedestal despite that game requiring you to move out of stuff - )
If you’re thinking you can just ride and die holding that button, in this game, without playing the battlefield slightly strategically then you are not the veteran you claim to be. In fact far from it and perhaps a switch in game(s) are in order.
Ultimately it is a failure to adapt. I am not to sure that calling others delusional will somehow make the argument correct.
Look, the OP should follow the advice they gave others in the distant past…in summary:
And you’ve obviously only used EoR lawl, because you show no sign of having used ARR, FoI etc. And yet make obviously bs claims about them lawl. Also, EoR feels bloody fun to use in SR despite all the fluff involved with casting other things. But then I have ADHD and prefer to be more active than just holding down one button.
Anyhow, it’s amusing watching you act as though you’re a) totes in the majority and b) that your whinging and trolling will totes make the devs changed things to your pedantic, weirdo needs. Especially when PoE already exists and you can just go play that instead.
Because the only one here getting cranky over EoR is you lawl.
Also your opening post was claiming it was all channelling skills, not just EoR, add in 3 pages of you trolling and it’s no surprise I used that as a target /shrug.
I have:
4229 hours in Grim Dawn and the various expansions
1998 hours in POE, at least 1/3 of that in Ruthless SSF HC (btw)
over 9000 hours in D3, though more GD and POE in the past 5 yrs
before that, tens of thousands of hours in precursor ARPGs like Titan Quest, NWN, NWN2, BaldursGate 1/2/expansions, D&D gold box series in the '90s, and PNP in the '80s with my cousins before that. When the gold box series came out, my buddy and I used to stealth over to my Aunt’s house and play for hours and hours b/c neither of us had a computer and I had a cool Aunt.
I think I’m also “not a rookie in the (ARPG) genre”, yet I couldn’t tell you for sure exactly how that skill will play. How could you possibly know with certainty? Read a few threads in this very forum and you’ll find numerous examples of people like yourself complaining about new skills, only to realize upon release that said skill is actually pretty good.
I’m sure you’ve been around a while, but so have I, and I’ve never seen you post on these or the old forums even once, nor seen you stream GD, or seen you hosting an MP instance. I’ve never seen you post in POE chat, either, unless you were using a different name. I’m sure some of those things have happened, but not with enough regularity that an interested observer such as myself has ever heard of you. I don’t recall seeing you post in seasonal GD content, either.
As I said above, these forums are not like the other ARPG forums that I’ve seen. Perhaps you would benefit from a bit more reading a bit less trolling, unless your only goal is to troll.
presumably it’ll work like a modified Righteous Fervor or Savagery and build charges the more you hit. each charge will have a short cooldown before dropping off thus allowing you to quickly reposition via just moving or using dodge/ movement skill without losing all your built up charges right away once channeling has stopped and therefore all built up damage. this should alleviate the argument of losing all damage when having to move.
im also going to assume there will be monster infrequents or mythicals that add things like slower enemy movement and/ or lower enemy damage etc to help with the danger of standing still to channel giving the player more time to adjust position if necessary.
Anyone claiming that they’re not a rookie in the genre, while proudly designing/showcasing that monstrosity of a set (The End of All that Is) should just go play PoE, because they clearly don’t understand the fundamentals of Grim Dawn’s gameplay design.
It’s more like Grim Dawn doesn’t understand the fundamentals of an arpg hack and slash game. You are free to go gaining more experience from npcs than monsters and completing all of those MMO like quests. Or gain reputation that awards vendor gear better than most campaign loot.
I love how toxic this forum is while in the end I’m just trying to save a skill from becoming trash. Compare your last few messages to my few last ones. I’d wish this *forum had less fanatics and more educated people.
@bryanw1995 I played tons. I streamed, I competed, played modded versions, recorded to youtube. Played all classes. So on and so on. Not my problem if you can’t find.
Yup we are all so toxic. Oh wait…besides pot calling kettle IMO
If this “concern” you voiced was done post release or during closed testing it might have merit. Otherwise it is useless, like this thread and should just go away until the skill is being tested.
It’s not. It pinpoints to channeling skill problems. Unfortunately for most it’s all about the damage numbers, not how in reality the given skill is comfortable or plays out according to it’s meaning Channeling. This game doesn’t know how to properly make channeling skills. I disagree that if the game is old it is justified to feel so wooden, if it’s so easy to fix here and there.
which has been rejected and disproven, so your actual gripe is not that
and like krell said, you highlighing the GL s6 set for something to “fix”/make eor the way it should be probably highlights it the best how off you are
maybe you need it reminded; the player self aborts channelled skills more frequent than CC screws us over
your whole baseline whine is incongruent with the current state of gameplay, the fact that static channelled skills already exist and play fine and do well “without being interrupted 24/7 ever 0.1secs” by CC
you somehow thinking this will then invalidate a skill with with expanding AoE is both profoundingly absurd at its core, and double so when you can’t even conceive of basic factors like channel speed, effective scaling, and the myriad of other basic "but uhm this that"fixes 25 other people have already reminded you of
or to put it fn bluntly by now
and the reason for that is you dont’ want to fix a skill or mechanic, you want to bastardize GD into your specific version of how a/every ARPG should be
