I may be dumb in asking this, but do Epic items scale at all? I ask because my build (built as I played, no real plan.) took a turn when I got Scythe of Tenebris while on my happy adventures. Originally I was using an off-hand and a mace, but getting the Scythe of Tenebris completely changed my build for the better and allowed me to make a better more focused character later on.
My only problem is, I don’t know if my build can “get” more damage at this point without getting a new weapon or another Scythe with better rolls.
Here is my build on paper: https://grimcalc.com/build/1009-ZMYTqX (Note, I am level 78/85 and only have 6 shrines before I have my devotion stuff completed.)
Here is my devotion skills: Twin Fangs (Bloody Pox), Flame Torrent (Sigil of Consumption), Eldritch Fire (Doom Bolt), Giant’s Blood (Possession).
You can probably get more damage but it’s going to come from item modifiers and items that give skill bonuses. There is no direct scaling or growing of the weapon, it scales by the % damage modifiers along with all your other damage. If you are set on a two handed, since there is no Empowered Scythe of Tenebris, I think the only increase left in terms of unique gear is legendary Obsidian Juggernaut(For Chaos and occultist skill bonus, not sure which modifier is larger.). And likewise for the other gear there is usually a better legendary/epic, or just better affixes on the rares with better modifiers for your damage type.
But if you are looking at that DPS number, I wouldn’t. Its just telling you what you do on average with LMB/RMB. Not telling you anything about Bloody Pox for instance, or chaos strike since they are not bound to those keys. You have those Cold and Poison items in there, but seems like you are focused mostly on vitality/chaos. Damage is Base Damage*Modifier, I think, essentially, so if base cold is small and Cold modifier is small, you really don’t get a whole lot in return.
This is why the item damage modifiers usually come in pairs or triplets. Hedging dilutes your total damage output potential. And since you only have cold damage coming from the proc and a few small modifiers, that I can see, there is no point. An Empowered Cthonian Thread Sash however would give Vitality and Chaos Modifiers, and lifestealer nova would be be compounded by all of the Vitality Modifiers doing massive damage on proc and healing you quite a bit in turn.
I scarcely know what you’re referring to as “Poison items” as I don’t have any poison focused items, everything was picked out for resistances and chaos modifiers as the two most important factors in my equipment. But as for the ring, it gives decent resistances to cold and that’s mainly why I still have it.
Dammit’s http://www.grimtools.com/calc/ is a much better tool for sharing your build with others. You can use the button in the upper left corner to upload your character - items, devotions, etc. included.
I’d probably take points out of Second Rite, Arcane Will, and Fabric of Reality to max Blood of Dreeg and spend a few points in Curse of Frailty + lots in Vulnerability to help your Vitality damage and proc devotions. Not sure what to say after that - you’re going in an interesting direction but I’m not sure where you’ll end up from there.
Oh and stop putting points in Spirit if you haven’t yet. A Warlock most of all classes will need the hp and DA from Physique.
I think I was referring to the corruption relic, but I see it does chaos as well. I took it for the poison and really didn’t notice the chaos until just now.
