Do, uh… Do tools help children learn better? Education seems tough on the frontier.
And why are tools shown as an occupation?
It’s items that are related to occupation. The occupation is top right: Child
Childhood is a Victorian concept. Before that transformation in the status of children, they were pretty much regarded as little adults. Children of any but the elite classes in a Medieval society would be apprenticed in a trade or profession at an early age. So it would not be so strange in a Medieval society for a child to be using tools. Children of elites (royalty, nobility) would be tutored privately. Boys would be taught academic subjects and instructed in the arts of war. Girls would be schooled in the household arts and management. At least, on Earth they would.
Yeah, that makes sense but it seems the current interaction is children equip tools for… No reason?
This would also explain why tools seems to disappear so quickly. All of those new children being born and then taking the tools that are needed by other villagers. Sounds more like a bug than a feature. Even with multiple buildings cranking out tools I always seem to have none in storage.
Yeah, trying a new settlement to repro this. If children keep taking tools I’ll report the bug.
Excellent point. If the children are going to be carrying tools around, then the little brats ought to be put to work!
