☄ Collection of malawiglenn's Beginner Friendly builds

@Boromonokli thanks I have already made such pics

Storm box was mainly for proccing and reducing monster DA. But I did mention “storm box focused” alternative build in the guide, perhaps I need to say something about that set-up. Most of the damage storm box deals is the electrocute in lightning tether. Perhaps the best version now is the “storm totem focused” one.

I have testplayed the build, it is still “good” you know. But still, those nerfs where uncalled for imo - rather nerf that ridiculous cyclone set.

Also there was a new freebie item that might be decent for budget lightning caster builds:
The totally normal dawnshard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i73lyULyo0
but i still prefer the blue faction weapon for +1 shaman skills

The most annoying change in the 1.1.3 patch was the change of blazeheart to dagger… like why?! I use that weapon on many chars, now I have to farm attribute respec potions…

When I play the new patch will try to dummy test how much damage deals separate spells in my Vindicator.Already had a discussion about that in previous patch and the most damage was already from Storm totems.

Btw question, that always bug me.The font, that you use on your descriptions @malawiglenn FG beginners builds looks familiar,is it from Diablo II ?

For the 1.1.2 version of the lightning caster vindi, I fould that maelstrom was strongest in damage. But now perhaps Storm totem is best. But for sure “stormbox version” is DEAD

My “malawiglenn” logo is with the Diablo font. The other text is with a font called “morris”

Dead builds :white_check_mark:

I knew it about logo.It looks nice.

I might revise the lightning caster vindi guide later with more lightning tether though but now storm box is just for proccing devos and DA shred

I think this font is very close to grim dawn font or at least fit the style of the game.

and speaking of DEAD builds, I will post my Rune of Hagarrad vindicator in like 15 minutes :open_mouth:

  • For a safer devotion map, skip Blizzard proc and get Turtle shell proc from the Tortoise Devotion.

  • This belt can also be good for an early end-game build (and for leveling) Gargoyle Waistguard since it provides Vitality damage to Cold damage conversion, which will make Bat devotion proc heal you better patch:

  • The Gargoyle Waistguard can be good until you get pierce to cold damage conversion as mentioned above for better Twin Fangs healing.
  • Ugdenbog Waistguard can be another choice for end-game since it now gives +1 Inquisitor skills.
  • Overall, Rune of Hagarrad got a minor buff. It now deals 25% less damage in center of impact compared to 30% less before. This is a 7% damage increase.
  • Faction axe Witch Moon now adds flat cold damage to RoH, which means that it is a very good choice now even if you do not have 100% pierce to cold conversion. It still has a small +%cold damage value but the +3 bonus to Biting Cold is nice.

I would really like to help all of you in your progress and to answer all possible questions you might have - but I will not have that much time with that unfortunately (I can a handful of PM’s on a daily basis with questions). I feel the guides are detailed enough. If my guides are not enough: use google and search for your question, read other guides (like more general guides on game mechanics) see below.

I also have a full time job, partner, and other hobbies (like I also play this game at least 10h/week).

You can for instance ask questions here (official Grim Dawn discord - link ) Grim Dawn on Discord and I am sure people will help you.

You can also ask questions here in this thread: you need to specify what build/guide you are following and so on so that I and others can help you as good as possible.

Here they are. ~17 base damage for maelstrom (from 197 avg to 180), and box.

in %s it is 8,7% for maelstrom and 7,8% for storm box.

I guess he’ll just have to buff our faction gear to compensate?

I have played with the idea that some faction items could make up sets.

No. Enough sets, we shouldn’t have crate make builds for us. More universal items and less specialists is the way to go.

Grim Dawn itemization is just Diablo 3, but MOAR. Get set and win basically.

Sadly sets are needed for majority of the builds.Still one can use set for undesignated classes against :crate: wishes.

Sets are boring from a gearing perspective. And also wierd from a developer perspective, why are they making all of these fun MI helms, shoulders etc when “all” end-game sets have gear in those slots? talk about waste of time from the developers side

It’s not weird. It’s a lot easier to balance a few sets and extra items, than to balance every combination of MI, Niche epic, and Legendary standalone items.

Might I say it’s a little lazy.

I mean it would be easier just to not make these MI helms and stuff that no one is every gonna use anyway

But then …

hmm what’s this?

alright @Zantai I summon thee, we aren’t heaph at least.

But then you are at the same game as diablo 3 with stat allocation (doesn’t matter just pump vit… I mean phys), and skill allocation.

I get those all the time. Discourse being Discourse. Kinda wish Z would disable that stuff.

I get a popup window that says “are you sure you want to include this link (www.grimtools.com) again” can be pretty annoying

Yeah… seen that one as well a time or three.
