Also, some people might not pick up FoA for a while, are uncertain etc so watching a stream could be a good idea for them to see what the expansion is about (not sure he will get to that point in the first stream though)
You can play whenever you want, and no one is forcing anyone to watch either. I like to jump into Rektos stream and help out answering question and spending money - being part of this amazing community is almost as important than the actual game, for me.
I plan to stream every weekday for the forseeable future, if not forever. Given that expac comes out on a Thursday, I doubt I’ll have the self-control to not want to play on the weekend as well, so for this week only I might stream on the weekend as well. I’ve waited 3 years to get my fix, I’m not waiting any longer.
If folks like Zarfen the Loot Goblin over on D2 are anything to go by, I think streaming can be a perfect little corner to share my love (read: obsession) for GD and build tinkering with like-minded (and new) people.
Definitely SC, I’m gonna be rusty as all hell, gonna start fully on ultimate (no shrine farm from lower difficulties) and from the horror stories I’ve been reading, bosses have been supercharged. More than half of my 4-5 hour stream would be spent dying to Pusquill on HC XD
Counterpoint: don’t you think that, if you want to try exploring streaming, the best time to begin is when there is the most interest in the game? I’m streaming on YT, the VODs are preserved. If ppl can’t catch it while it’s live, they can listen at a later time in the background, when on the road, etc. And some people might want to both play and “compare notes” with other build makers. It’s not like GD is drowning in content creators.
I really have nothing against streaming, I meant that in a fun way, but right now, most people are so crazy about the game that all hell is going to break loose tomorrow; everyone will want to see for themselves what’s going on.
Things will look different after that, of course, I’ll be checking out streams too, including yours, no question
And you’re right, the timing is perfect right now, but most people will still want to get hands-on with it themselves first.
But in any case, you streamers are the best resource for newcomers (I’ve been around since 2017). Newcomers can pick up a lot of info that way, precisely because GD is not D4
I’ve tried not to look up all the items and let myself be surprised when I find them in game. So I don’t have any sets in mind. Usually my problem is making too many characters, but I want to try and stick with a Wereraven build this time. And then see what cool things I find on the way so I can start 10 other characters
I will zip up all my old save data though, so I can start fresh!

Exactly what made me not do a full wipe, despite the fact 40 % of my old characters will be getting a new start with an improved build. After having played 36 characters on all three difficulties, with full exploration and quest completion, I’m done with the “3 difficulties” life.
Initial plan is to start as Chaos Werewolf since the final class will be Mystic and that’s a natural overlap, and then depending on how strong I feel I’ll start speccing out of Chaos damage on the Occultist side and transition into Hellhound. Hoping to be both werewolf and hellhound by lvl 50. I’m usually strongly against making complete build swaps at endgame only, I prefer to level the character as it is intended to function, but this is such a weird concept that I’m not sure it’ll work when levelling on Ultimate, especially since bosses have apparently been supercharged.
