Currently level 50 building toward the above. I am currently not having any problems with energy consumption.
Current equipment
Death Ward (saved me a walk a few times)
Chosen Star of Thunder
Thunderstruck Bracers
Skyreach Sash
3 piece WildCaller set
Desolation Relic
2x Rhowari Void Seal (for OA and for totem)
Desecrator Treads
Swampdweller’s legguards (Poison Resist)
I wanted to do something different and try to make Thunderous Strike work. Its actually quite fun to play, I thought I would rapidly run out of energy but so far I have not even with primal strike and its extras maxed out. I have played elementalists and conjurers. My question is if you were to make a build around Thunderous Strike how would it look different then what I have and why
Your devotions don’t give you any RR except for arcane bomb. You need viper and crown for x% resist deuction and Resists reduced by x. What is blood pact doing for you? Why not max out heart of the wild? IEE is only relevant for its ability to convert and its energy boost, I’d drop the two extra nodes entirely and pick up 2 points in conversion for the CC resists.

Can Go either Ultos Chest or Eastern Chest. I still haven’t got Ultos chest again (first one died) so I used the Eastern Chest.
Don’t listen to people telling you that Druid sucks or Elementalist is better.
Sure Demo has some very nice secondary skills (Vindictive Flame, High Potency, Thermite Mines, Searing Light & Blast Shield) but so does Arcanist (Mirror, Maiven’s, Elemental Balance, OFF, Nullification.)
Druid is a solid combination that has no issues beating the games Content.
you will want to either grab Elemental Storm, Acid Spray from devotion or maxing Wind Devils Raging Tempest modifier.
You need a flat -rr to go along with Arcane Bombs -%RR (only need 1 as they wont stack with each other)
Overload & Arcane Will aren’t that great to invest in and you can afford the loss of Elemental Balance since you have Stormcaller’s Pact. Raging Tempest will give you much better benefit.
No comments on build, but I would suggest getting Praetorian set at level 50 for more armor and resistances and use the level 40 epic Alvarick’s Rebuke. I’m using those at level 60+ and they work pretty well.
Well after this weekend I have 75% through ultimate, Some thing hit me hard and others hardly at all. I wish there was a combat log that I can review to see what it was that hit me so hard. Anyway this is the build I ended up with and it works very well. With a OA of approx 2100 and a DPS of 28k I have seen thunderous strike crits of over 100k. Sacred Strike can hit damn hard on bosses with a couple of devils swirling around. With the defensive devotion options, Death ward and Mirrors I can survive alot of encounters with some exceptions a couple of elite flesh hulks is too much for me to stand there and take it, and having two elite of those big bone things in the small area before the undercity boss was a PITA in Ultimate.
Is arcanist basically a must-have for melee shamans? I have an old Warder that i wish to complete, but it really lacks of single-target damage and tanking capacity… aoe is pretty ok after all.
Also, there are a lot of possible choices for devotions… can anyone check on my toon and see if there’s a better devotion path that could be taken? I got falcon and bound it to primal stike thinking it was a good idea, but i’m not sure about it anymore (lightnings could be enough for trash mobs).
Thank you in advance.
Not arcanist no, in fact arcanist is the worst combo :D. What you want is either Demo or Occultist. Both provide a big source of RR that Shaman lacks. Plus attack speed and some defenses as well as large helpings of OA that Shaman dearly lacks.
To be honest I think your real issue here is that Primal Strike scales very poorly into the late game. Savagery will probably serve you better. AoE should be covered through procs. Also you don’t need as much AoE when you do 2-3 times the single target damage.
Your devotions aren’t awful but there’s some things I would change. I would lose the Falcon for Rhowan’s Crown to get Elemental Storm, I would also look to replace Turtle with something that scales better.
