Continually Crashes to desktop. Regularly before first save, and sometimes before the map loads

I have managed to play for 30 minutes maximum currently on the Lastest Steam install of the game (not playtest or anything like that) Regularly crashes to desktop within 10 minutes of launching the game. I can sit at the menu without crashing. Dxdiag seems good.

Hi Cary, thanks for sending that in.

Looking at your crash dump, it appears to be crashing in Unity graphics code or graphics driver code:

Looking at your DxDiag, I do see your RX 5700 which is fine. However, you are also showing:

This may be perfectly fine, but I can say, I don’t recall ever seeing that in all the DxDiags I’ve looked at. Often on a laptop with a discrete GPU and an integrated GPU, two GPUs will be listed. The integrated one is typically showing as an Intel GPU (not Microsoft Basic Display Driver). Again, not sure how that could cause crashes, I’ve just never seen it before and I’m not sure why your computer is listing it as such.

Also in your DxDiag I see at least a couple of Farthest Frontier crashes, apparently in different places:

Again, I’m not sure what that’s telling us. I can tell you that almost all FF crashes deal with graphics crashes. They are hard to diagnose since Unity generates the graphics code and it is not visible to us.

One thing that generally helps is trying the Mono version of FF. This can be selected when running the game from your Steam client:

The Mono version is by-design slightly less optimized then the standard (IL2CPP) version, but still absolutely playable. Maybe give that a shot. Short of that, maybe try uninstalling your graphics drivers and re-installing them. It’s a long shot but it wouldn’t be the first time doing that has helped someone having graphics crashes.

Thanks for the information. I will try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling. Not sure where the Microsoft Basic Display Driver is coming from, as this is a home built PC with an AMD CPU,

I have reduced screen size down to 1920x1200 from big 2540x1440 my monitor supports, and this has appeared to make the game more stable (I can actually play and save the game)

The quick reply is appreciated.
