# Converting the same A to B and C

What happens if I have two conversion components that converts A to B and A to C. Which goes first?

Neither goes first. They occur at the same time.

Neither, all conversion is done simultaneously if it’s from the same source, it uses a weighted system.

If you have 20% A to B, then 15% A to C, your damage becomes 20% B, 15% C, and A becomes 65%.

If you have 50% A to B, then 50% A to C, your damage becomes 50% C + 50% B

If you have 80% A to B, then 120% A to C, (good luck with that) then your total conversion will be 200%, thus the resulting conversion will be 50% lower, so 40% B + 60% C.

Because the conversion is simultaneous, it prevents double converting. (A -> B -> C)

Thank you for the answer, but I noticed something that made me a little confused. The game guide mentions “The order of events for Conversion is as follows: Base Skill > Skill Modifiers > Conversion on the Skill or Transmuter > Conversion on Equipment and Buffs > Equipment, Auras and Passives”. Is the guide wrong?

The guide is correct. You said conversion components, so both would happen at the same time when the game goes through its checks and gets to step 5 (the one I bolded).

“The order of events for Conversion is as follows: Base Skill > Skill Modifiers > Conversion on the Skill or Transmuter > Conversion on Equipment and Buffs > Equipment, Auras and Passives

How it goes is so:

Suppose a skill does X amount of type A damage.

The next skill in the tree adds 50% A damage. This is applied, so the base damage of type A is increased (to 150% of X in type A).

You now pick up a modifier that converts ALL of type A into type B. Now you do 150% X damage as type B.

Then, suppose your gear converts 50% of B into type C. You now do 75% of X in type B, and 75% of X in type C.

Finally, your gear buffs type C by 100%. You now do 75% in type B, and 150% in type C.

That’s what the guide means.

I understood it. Is just that he mentioned that all conversion happens simultaneously, which makes double conversion impossible, and the guide says that skill conversion happens first, which would make double conversion possible. Thank you, btw.

Double conversion is possible.
The best example is the Albrecht’s Aether Ray (Arcanist) which has a transmuter (Tainted power) to convert all its Aether damages into Chaos.
100% Aether > 100% Chaos

Then, if you have the Albrecht’s duality ring, it will convert back 50% of the Chaos damage of the AAR to Aether.
It is possible because the conversion on the skill (through the transmuter) takes effect before the conversion on the ring.
100% Aether > 100% Chaos > 50% Aether + 50% Chaos

If you have the ring twice, you can convert all the damage back to Aether (nullifying the effect of the transmuter, hence losing a point for nothing X) ).
Because the effect of the two ring occurs at the same time, it both converts 50% of the chaos damage and not 50% for one and 25% for the other (50% of the remaining 50%), resulting in a 100% conversion instead of a 75% conversion.
100% Aether > 100% Chaos > 100% Aether

NB : Damage bonuses are applied once, at the end. You can convert to chaos then back to aether to benefit from chaos AND aether damage bonuses.

Another example for a different scenario would be with the battlemage :

• the soldier can convert up to 50% of the physical damages of cadence to elemental with the Discord transmuter
• the arcanist can convert up to 30% physical damages to elemental with Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange skill
As the transmuter is on the skill, it applies first. Then the buff of IEE occurs and applies its conversion on the remaining Physical damages.
100% Physical > 50% Physical + 50% Elemental > 35% Physical + 65% Elemental

NB : this will change with the 1.0.0.8 as Discord will convert up to 100% Physical damages.
