Corrupted save after SteamOS update

Hi, I’ve been happily playing my copy of Grim Dawn (bought from GOG) on my Lenovo Legion Go S w/ SteamOS for many months now. I installed it via the Heroic Launcher, and it’s been working great - I love playing Grim Dawn on my handheld!

However when I upgraded SteamOS last week to 3.17.19, something corrupted my save files which causes the game to crash after a short period on the title screen. At first I thought it was a simple bug with the new OS version, but I’ve discovered that if I reinstall the game and blow away all my settings and characters, the game will start. As soon as I copy my character folder back into the save folder, boom, it breaks again.

I found your forum after searching for a solution online and found another thread where you were able to restore another customer’s save file.

I have attached the crash report and my character folder. If it is possible to restore my character, I’d be very grateful.

Thanks so much, and thanks for making a great game!

We did what we could here. You might have lost some quest progress.

That’s bloody awesome, that works great! Thank you so much, it’s really appreciated!

It doesn’t look like I’ve lost much quest progress (if any) but that wouldn’t have bothered me too much anyway - I just didn’t want to start back at Level 1 again!
