I’ve been reading up on lots of builds and loads sound like fun and all breeze through normal and epic until they get to ultimate and then the builds start talking about certain set pieces that are a must and that’s fine, that’s part of the game and I look forward to it but is there a build or builds that make it a little bit easier in the gathering of said set pieces, a build that makes farming items as painless as possible in crucible for an example?
Pretty much anything posted in the build compendium is viable in Ultimate against most or all bosses. (The sticky’d topic at the top of this forum section.)
A basic build I’d recommend would be a Frenetic Throw Phantasmal Blades Spellbreaker, or a Primal Strike rifle Conjurer or Elementalist.
P-blades has a lot of innate power, and doesn’t need any gear to amp it up really.
Primal Strike has a good chunk of innate power as well, and has incredible synergy with the Piercing (As in through targets, not Piercing damage) ranged weapons, (Empowered and normal) Will of Fate, and Vortex of Souls. Will of Fate is a rather common Epic drop, and Vortex of Souls is a rather common Legendary drop.
EnkerZan, thanks there are many great builds there but like Primal strike conjurer below some need certain items to be viable, I’m looking for one that I can start from level 1 with no gear and get the best farmer so I can get gear to try out the other builds in the sticky.
Primal strike conjurer looks like it needs some good gear to support it reading the comments and the elementalist version first and second rules count that out as well but thanks for the suggestion.
The Frenetic Throw Phantasmal Blades Spellbreaker looks interesting but will it really make ultimate crucible easier than say a retaliation warder?
If your goal is to farm crucible ultimate, that most likely won’t come anytime soon. Unless you get the gear from trading or someone give it to you. I’m running with CT Build variant from Most’s guide. With different devotion and setup, even gears. And yes, I beat the gladiator 150.
If you’re looking for a sword and board tank, Cadence Witchblade is hard to beat. If you want a caster, CT Sorcerer is currently one of the most effective casters. I haven’t played a retaliation warder yet.
Yep, I’m aware it will take a while but I just want to focus on the one build and get it through normal, epic and levelled to 85 and I want to get the build sorted now and not when I get to level 50 and realise I don’t like it or made a mistake.
Thanks for your suggestion CT Sorcerer does look good.
Out of the 3 I suggested I think it’s down to Sorcerer or Warder. I have played the Witchblade to level 25 and I know that’s not indicative of the way it will play at 85 but it seemed really dull to me.
The first 5 levels of the Sorcerer were more fun, of course I may just have chosen the wrong skills as I levelled, Panetti’s replicating missile is a lot of fun at level 5.
Warder I have at 15 I think with a few retaliation pieces and it just seems to play better, it just seemed to be the sword and board fighter I’m looking for when I play the Witchblade.
As I said they are all low level with rubbish gear and possibly have the wrong levelling skills selected but I’m leaning towards the Sorcerer or Warder out of those 3 I mentioned at the moment.
I’ll stick with it a bit longer then but it just doesn’t seem as fun as the other two in the early levels and I want to enjoy levelling the class.
Maybe I just chose the wrong levelling skills but apart from blitz there isn’t any wow skills so far and it just seems a bit bland and feels lacklustre.
I know my criteria is to have a painless ultimate farming class but I would like it to have some wow skills and fun to play.
Sure, it doesnt look as cool as Sorcerer (after all, mages always have more “flashy” efects), but i believe, he’s still more interesting than “passive” retalliation warder…
Cadence may seems lackluster at first glance, but max out Deadly Momentum - and you’ll see its power.
I’ve been playing with both the Warder and Witchblade today and watching some videos of both doing the same encounters and although I slightly favour the Warder in gameplay from 1-30 as I said in an earlier post I know that’s not indicative of what it will be like at 85 and I don’t have maxed out deadly momentum yet.
The real clincher though are the video’s.
The 2 in jajaja’s Cadence thread vs Sharzul 23 seconds and the mad queen 35 seconds compared to Squibs equivalent video’s in his Pure Retaliation Warder: Sharzul 3 minutes 40 seconds and the Mad queen 4 minutes 40 seconds.
I know there were differences, one was hardcore, Warder’s patch version wasn’t stated but it’s a massive difference and for a farmer you don’t want to spend 5 minutes per boss.
Deadly Momentum is one of the skills that it must be maxed. The flat physical damage it gives after it procs will boost everything for those 4 secs. You can deal some really high damage when it’s activated.
i just started a pure soldier maxed stat bar menhirs bullwark overguard cadence and forcewave…i took all the regen i could…then split shaman with only mogdrogens pact…lvl 48 atm and i can pretty much breeze through most anything…even without activating overguard which puts my regen in the 900s …survivability it’s a failsafe…dont underestimate the regen overtime from potions either… spamming heals in conjunction with overguard and royal jelly balm you can stay alive much longer and time them so it just works… i’m having fun and looking forward to crucible
When I bought the game, few years ago, I didn’t even knew how the forum looked like for a year or so. I just enjoyed the game in my way, discovered its beautiful secrets and so on.
Don’t get me wrong, we all rush to help newcomers and we enjoy it, but nowadays most ppl that buy the game rush to the forum and asks for a piece of advice, without even knowing what is what. I mean I get it, ppl don’t wanna spend a lot of time making mistakes, so they try to eliminate the chance of failure. But…where is the fun?
Again, sry OP if it sounded harsh, wasn’t meant for u specifically, and it’s just me, an old player feeling bad about the state of things.
So, on topic, why not give it a try and fail on your own account, and win when you’ve learned from your failures?
So because you like to wing it and fly by the seat of your pants you presume we all do?
I personally gain as much enjoyment from learning about the build, it’s strengths, weaknesses and playstyle before I have played a single second.
Preparing my character beforehand, knowing what skills I’m taking, what attribute points I’m spending, devotions e.t.c will be planned out meticulously as I have done in every RPG I have ever played and will continue to do in every one I will ever play.
Boring and of little fun to you no doubt but to me an essential part of the RPG gaming experience.
True, and as I’ve said, never ment to offend anyone. But I feel a little sad when I see every new player makin a thread:" What should i build?".
Well, when you have an idea, make a thread to ask for advice, that’s understandable. Anyway, my apologies for the reply.
