Pretty sure we all know the struggle of getting that perfect double-rolled rare (Let alone double rolled MI), and an idea I had on crafting them popped up.
You take two of the exact same base item (Meaning if you are using an Elena’s Necklace in the first slot, must be an Elena’s Necklace in the second slot), and you merge them, and you will get one of the Elena’s Necklaces with a set of the Prefix and Suffix randomly picked from the two. Meaning you could just get a copy of one you started with, or 1 that has the prefix of one, and the suffix of the other.
So lets say I’m aiming for a Magi’s (Of Starpact +levels, to boot) Elena’s Necklace of the Grove. Pretty much impossible to get this legitly currently, you could go through thousands of Elena’s Necklaces (From now on called —) to even hope to get it. Now, I have a Magi’s — Of Celerity, and an Arcanist’s — of the Grove.
I can take it to the Re-inventor (Just a name for the NPC who would do this), and have him try to merge them. I could get, as a result of his attempted merge, get either a Magi’s — of Celerity, Magi’s — of the Grove, Arcanist — of Celerity, or Arcanist — Of the Grove.
This helps bring down the odds of getting specific double-roll on an item from 1 in a million, to something more reasonable, like 1 in 4, ONCE you have gotten a copy of both the prefix and suffix. Still a bit of a grind, but not a case of you could gamble for years on it and never see it. You could very well have it fail completely at getting you what you wanted. But compared to just having two of them that are not what you wanted anyway, is that THAT bad?
