Crate has nerfed MI affix pool?

You’re not going to see it in patch notes, not even if you look straight at the item’s listing on grimtools, but a portion of monster infrequents now have heavily reduced chance of rolling non mastery prefixes.

Exhibit A, my time wasted farming loxmere the past two days. Kidpid has had a similar experience farming terronax tomes.

Mastery prefixes are unleveled, that is to say they can be rolled at any level.
Loxmere himself is level 106
Most prefixes top out at level 90-94.
Glacial and frostborn, actual useful prefixes, have a maximum version at 68. So even if Loxmere wanted to drop something that wasn’t an occultist of frostbite, it would have to roll a prefix 26 levels below the dagger and 38 levels below loxmere himself. Knowing this and that my runecarved prefix could very well be L68, I’m astonished that runecarved one even dropped.

Crate, are the affixes functioning as intended, was it your plan to limit the effectiveness of MIs by pruning affixes from the drop pool, or did these affixes just not get an update?

+1 to that. Tonns of expansion MIs is dropping with the same damn kind of prefix, which is, you guessed it “inqusitor/arcanist/subjugator” etc. for me as well

So no more Spellbroken Loxmere Daggers of Shadow Striking?

I guess cold builds will be utter crap now…

/S

Using loxmere as an example might have been too polarizing, but this holds for a wide span of weapon MIs. If you want a stormcharged Ugdenbog Stormstrife, good luck. Highest stormcharged affix is 74. The same is true (68-74 being the max) for any rare affix that gives %physical damage converted to X.

I have read that MIs dropping without affixes is a bug, and I assume that the abundance of certain prefixes is another.

I’ve been getting a similar impression lately. That’s a good observation about the affix levels.

Hopefully this will get looked at after the devs have had some time to recover.

On the other hand, I’m actually seeing some of those previously super-rare bonus-to-two-classes’-skills affixes on some items. Not a total loss I guess.

Quite contrary, I see a lot of variety in MI items, and I like how even their look is different.
Besides, don’t tell me you were relying on a MI for your cold build entirely, when there are so much more powerful Epic and Legendary weapons around?

Firstly a well rolled loxmere dagger is vastly superior to Olexra’s Chill which is commonly accepted as the best cold 1h melee weapon alongside Crescent Moon.

Secondly, this post isn’t so much about the loxblades as it is about EVERY MI weapon. With how drop rates currently are in xpac your chances of getting any of the desirable prefixes with the 15% phys to X are best compared to lottery tickets. After grinding a bunch of crucible yesterday I saw this issue isn’t as prevalent there which forces players to go to crucible if they want specific weapon MIs, or denies them entirely if the MI comes from the xpac.

To put it simply, before xpac the MI weapons could roll respectable affixes so that in some cases they were useful. Now you can’t roll the good affixes outside of crucible so every kilrian’s mace you pick up after delving into arkovian undercity will be worthless short of an absolute miracle.

I’m having the same issue. I posted in Bug Reporting about it, but the thread got buried.

I’ve been farming Terrnox a bit lately, and out of 45 tomes farmed… 35 of them had a mastery prefix. That’s to say nearly 80% of the tomes that I got had a mastery prefix. This isn’t just limited to specific MI farming, either, all drops are plagued by mastery prefixes. I didn’t notice it while casually playing through the expansion, but as soon as I started farming MIs it became apparent just how many items had a mastery prefix.

It is because of this that I think MI farming is actually worse than it was pre-AoM, not better. The affix changes seemed to have had the inverse effect.

I’d also like to add that this problem does not extend to crucible drops.

Another day, another round of items with mastery prefixes.

29/34 MIs have a mastery prefix. This is ridiculous.

I believe this only affects caster weapons, but there are some missing rare prefixes at higher levels for them right now that we’ll address in a hotfix.

As for the class common prefixes appearing on caster weapons so much, that’s been the case for a long time now and was done to filter out the vast majority of prefixes you’d never want on a caster weapon to begin with.

I don’t know if it’s related to the topic, but I’ve been seeing way too many affix-less MIs since the xpac was released.

I’ve had a hell of a hard time farming those green MI daggers from Janaxia as well.
The prefix is basically always one of those class ones as mentioned, but the suffixes are bad too.
According to Grimtools, there are like 15 different suffixes with attack speed (all different names, not just different level tier) and all I want is one of them on a Cold damage base. I don’t even care if the prefix nor the suffix has any Cold % boost.

But even so I must’ve spent over 7 hours solely farming that area and I’ve not seen any AS roll at all. The suffix is always something like Of the Void, Ruin or Spellweaving, exactly what Kidpid’s screenshots show.
I think I see exactly one with an AS suffix in all of the examples.

So it seems the level thing the other people have mentioned basically make it next-to-impossible to actually get weapons like this. Not just the fighter type affixes on these daggers, but also the caster ones and instead you’re stuck getting those yellow affixes over and over.

I don’t think MIs like this should be easy to get with a good roll, but right now it’s as good as impossible and I feel like I wasted my time on a fool’s errand.
Something should be done about this so the desirable mods at least have a chance of spawning once in a while.

I imagine there’s a good number of bug fixes, QoL and tuning adjustments making their way into the next hotfix. Could you give an estimate on when we can expect the next hotfix or is it up in the air?

bump for great justice, holy shit man i feel so jipped
plus fire/cold daggers are rolling of the void. which i so previously only the same damage typed rolled on daggers.

complete and utter (frustrating) waste of time. i hope this gets fixed.

i’m also having a world of trouble rolling anything other than tough of mending/thorn on kupa legs, again completely and utterly terrible affixes.

this seemed like not an issue with solael legs for example. so im guessing it has something to do with lower lvl affixs missing in the pool for MI rolls

Bumping this.

This still seems to be a problem. Havent found a dagger with an attack speed suffix yet. And thats after a whole bunch of daggers dropped.

Daggers don’t roll Magic Attack Speed suffixes, they haven’t in many years.

Oh, ok. My bad then.

Thanks!
