In another (probably vain) attempt to cleanse the shrine upstairs, I went down to the Tomb of Korvaak… and I’ve noticed something.
When I stand in this spot:
There’s some creepy music playing. That spot seems to be the center of it. There are no special features to that area at all. It’s just the music playing there.
Anyone else noticed this? Any idea what this is or is this explained later in the game?
Reminds me of Tower of Latria in Demon’s Souls if anyone played that. 
EDIT: OK this is weird! In the time it took me to write up this post, the game was frozen due to me switching to a different window… and then I came back the music wasn’t there anymore! Dammit, devs, stop scaring me! Seriously, game should be completely frozen when that happens. Brr.
