D3

Playing season to additional stashtab, complete journey, then get bored and quit. Always the same.

This game just has no thrill or longvity - ladders are only for botters or people with unlimited time - “smartloot” is a joke, your almost full quipped in less than two days, its just not fun - in fact its a big boredom to me.

Therefore iam happy crate released this excellent game - its exactly the opposite of d3 - its entertaining, ya even thrilling and never gets boring thanks to almost endless possibilities.

I just love gd for what it is; cant say different.

GD (And Diablo 2) are so much more superior than Diablo 3 in every single way EXCEPT character animations and skill effects. I can’t deny that Diablo 3 does have good animations, graphics and effects — but the praise ends there.

Yeh sure, they indeed have better animations and stunning movielike intros and all that eyecandy in d3; but keep in mind they are “cash doesnt matter” blizzard.

Now if you compare that to gd and crate and their limited financial possiblitys then its even more shocking that this small kickstarted studio delivered a better game than the blizzard billionaires club.

Its simply amazing what crate delivered here out of nowhere.

I agree.

For a group of funny looking, goofy bastards, they sure did crank out a good video game

:p:D:D:D

Yea, no. D2 has a lot of problems compare to today standards. Its not only that d3 has better animation, it also has better monster design, better bosses design, better skill design and overall a lot more things how you can change them. A diverse end game (d2 doesnt even have one). There are a lot more things with crafting and similar, but saying d3 didnt do anything better than d2 is just not correct. Is d3 a better game than d2 that is totally different thing, but it has a lot of thing it did better.

First of all, that’s my opinion, and you aren’t “correct” in an opinion just because you believe it strongly (kindof like you are doing - i like how you assume authority to come down to tell me how ‘wrong’ i am . LOL ).

D2 had skill trees, and customizing of builds. D3’s “builds” are dependent on what set items you have on. You can’t just go, “I want to build an ice sorcerer around Frozen Orb and have it be competitive with other builds” on diablo 3, at all. You can’t pump up the damage of Frozen Orb to competitive levels no matter what you do, but on Diablo 2, you can easily do that.

Better boss design? Yea, in graphics. The boss mechanics in Diablo 3 are a sad joke. BORING boss fights. Just because the bosses have more health and take longer on Diablo 3 doesn’t make them better (except in your opinion). It’s so stupid how Queen Araenea just disappears all immune to damage to do her stupid spider summoning mechanic when she reaches a % of health. SO many bosses on D3 utilize the same mechanics. Good job, Blizzard, taking the Butcher, putting a female goblin model on it, and calling it Greed. The only actual good boss fight in Diablo 3 IN MY OPINION, is Belial.

Better skill design? Diablo 3’s skill designs have ZERO synergy. The skills don’t even work off of each other (unless you put on one of the boring set designs, and then you are locked into those specific skills for that particular set). Don’t even get me started on the, what, 80% (as a guess) of skills that are used by nobody, ever, in any builds, on Diablo 3.

Grim Dawn has a skill design much more similar to D2’s. I get that you may just like diablo 3 more than I do, but it doesn’t make you “correct.”

I didnt talked about builds, I specificly talked about skills, their diversity and options you have to change them. If d2 had same thing added with the skill tree it would be better. And there is no opinion about it, d3 has more diverse skills than d2, has more options in that regard. It is limited by the builds that you need set items to make them work for the highest end game, but it doesnt change fact that skill design is a lot better than d2 in almost every way.

Boss design are better because there is some actually mechanic in it. Is it environment hazrat, multi staged boss fights and similar, and it just blows d2 away where the most interesting boss was probably baal and other are just bloated normal mobs with heath and dmg.

I know that a lot of people hate d3 because what blizzard did, but some objective look on things would not hurt, especially compared to d2 where the game has a ton of problems and a lot of thing that are extremely bad for today standards.

Actually i can’t stand playing D3 anymore. I tried to play another Crusader (i was burned from Wizard and Witch Doctor in S4) in S5, but i didn’t even made it to 70. The game needs an expansion and a new class pronto, because seasons won’t cut it anymore to drive my interest.

same as Mihalis for me, its not get me anymore…

Blizzard in general aims to strip game design down to its core elements. Then keep things simply in order to attract the masses. This means that they succeed in their goal to draw in many new gamers. In turn their games are nothing more than a shallow sugar rush experience. For gamers these are simply not interesting nor challenging games any more. Therefore when a game is made by Blizzard I avoid it like the plague instead of running towards it like I did in the past.

D3 made me happy with ferret pets.

I’ve always played diablo mostly for farming stuff and trade. The is no much fun for me as a ultra rare drops. But greedy Blizzard killed it frm the beggining, not mention all the hack allowed on ps4 duing trillion dps.

Old news, but looks like the good diablo 3 clone is the korean one, that’s still in the making since 6 years:

Bosses look like the ones from diablo:

Classes too:

Interesting ‘drag skill’ physics, that no other game did before.

Too bad it’s MMO, not a big fan of MMOrpGrind, but I’ll keep an eye out for this one, along with Lost Ark. Both look very promising, at least from the gameplays.

I cannot stand D3 and do not understand why it is still so popular.

they managed to sell 30M copies, I am not really surprised that 1% or so is still playing

With the “WoWfication” of Diablo 3, I’m not gonna be surprised if this 1% are actually Diablo fans still playing, while the rest being WoW fans.

WoW used to be badass, i loved wow thru bc, but holy crap is diablo 3 horrible. I played like 6 hours and quit forever, that game is a dumpster fire.

I still play vanilla wow in nostalrius private server with constant 10k player online. Vanilla are great memories.

For D3, i only ever played the demo. And it’s enough to make me weeping cry. I still remember thinking ‘is it diablo loot always simple stat like this?’. With enough googling, i found the answer. Rest in peace, my childhood memories.

I think D3 has its merits. I stopped playing shortly after its launch when inferno difficulty and RMAH still existed; I had found it a disappointing game. Then I revisited the game in patch 2.3 when they introduced Kanai’s cube and I thought the game’s in a much better shape now. It still isn’t the type of game I feel would draw audience that like to go deep into the mechanics or character building, but it is highly approachable for the more casual crowd who are into visceral action.

I do recognize an issue with longevity of the game, and for me, it isn’t so much about how easily we can burn through the content. To begin with, D3 isn’t a game where one could expect alot of depth in its mechanics. One thing I’ve found rather disappointing is the abundance of useless skills. Generally, you’d have to play in the way that the set items dictate.

Nevertheless, I do think it’s a great game now (and the followers are hilarious!). The game doesn’t artificially increases its longevity by gating its content and makes the fun stuff easily accessible.

Oddly enough, the truth is D3 lasted longer for me than Grim Dawn itself. I think GD is a good game, being built under resource constraints, and I hope it improves its action and visual appeal over time. As it stands now, my character feels like a mercenary in D2.

I find it a bit funny to evaluate DIII on its merits given that it changed so much. It’s like 3 separate games at this point. I felt like if they took the Vanilla and improved the itemization while removing RMAH it would have been fine. The new thing they did with smart loot and rifts and adventure mode I don’t care for at all.

I like WoW (Vanilla or modern or otherwise) but WoW was supposed to pull from DII, not the other way around…
