Not sure if there is a thread about this. I just made an account earlier today.
Just like the HP bar, I want a bar that shows damage absorb coming from class buffs, devotion buffs, and some kind of indication that my shield is absorbing damage. I like seeing those numbers. Knowing that I have 1000 absorb left might allow me to choose how I proceed to the next fight or what I do next.
This would actually be great if they could do it. Something that shows how much Turtle Shell or whatever you have left (possibly make it an overlay on the health bar to minimize screen clutter? dunno)
For things like turtle shell, doesn’t the number (which usually refers to the seconds left) refer to the amount of absorption left (x1000)?

I think this would be very difficult to do in practice, because some shields, like Turtle Shell, absorb all damage, while other shields, like the ones provided by Wyrmscale Footguards and Voidwalker Footpads, only absorb specific types of damage. What if you had both effects active at the same time? Wouldn’t you need multiple bars? Plus Crate hates doing anything that would require adding more UI, and understandably so, because it would be a lot of work.
You can always have a little icon on the UI similar to the cooldown timers that can show how much health is left on the shield, instead of time on a buff.
Could just be color based on different ability that triggered. Maybe if two pop up they just split the current bar as two different colors to show that they are two different abilities.
The timer that I’ve seen is just the duration of the ability like it may offer certain resistances like blast shield on Demolitionist. The ability gives absorb and that. The timer is fine to let me know I have triggered it. Yet sometimes with certain abilities I wonder if I am getting absorb or any affect especially when getting attacked a lot. Seeing it on my bar would comfort me.
I personally think it would be useful beyond just quality of life, because my playstyle would change if I could see these bars.
If only it were so simple.
