Damage Log: QoL suggestion

Somewhere in UI: Damage dealt/received in past 5 minutes, separated by damage type, updated at 1 minute intervals (so the numbers aren’t constantly changing when viewed). Amount reduced by resistances is also important.

Alternative to 1 minute intervals, maybe just a button to pause its updating to view a snapshot of the current area.

It’d be a big help in knowing why I’m losing to the things I lose to, and winning to the things I win against.

Like, I assume my witch hunter is losing to skeletons more than anything else because the bleed on my phantasmal blades is being reduced, but I actually have no idea which enemies in the game are most vulnerable and most resistant to any damage types at all. I also have no idea what damage types I’m receiving most of the time, the only time I do is when it’s a DoT and there’s an icon (which isn’t every DoT). I couldn’t tell you what Cthonics are weak to, I just know on veteran my witch hunter breezed through them. At one point in the game I had an extremely high acid/poison resistance, and I got a feel for which enemies were dealing that damage because I was near invulnerable to them, but I couldn’t tell you how much acid damage is being dealt by enemies I fought while my resistance wasn’t at that peak spike.

I feel like it’s a huge missing piece from trying to do character building. Granted, the game is meant to be played multiple times and across multiple characters, eventually there will be enough trial and error to get a vague feel for which resistances and damage types are most important for which areas of the game, but even after having cold damage as a main damage for an entire run, my sense of where it’s good or bad is still really vague. Additionally there’s also things like seeing how much value your effects are actually getting: lethal assault (the modifier for amarasta’s blade burst), for example, is really hard for me to conceptualize how much I’m getting from it, being able to read my acid damage number after a few fights would tell me how much an additional +% acid damage is worth if I find it on a green item.

Searching revealed that it’s been posted about before, but not exclusively and at length. One of my strongest impressions of a missing piece of the game after my first 80 hours is this.
