Reflect (cough thorns cough) also existed in arpgs since ever and it remains probably one of the dumbest things to still be present in modern games of the genre.
Plus, you know, people are allowed to make their own suggestions if they genuinely think it’d make the game better.
But thanks for probably making this thread go sideways into a ton of shitposting that detracts from the actual content of the thread in a highly nonconstructive manner and ultimately gets the thread locked. <3
If reflect didn’t exist people would close their eyes and hold lmb forever
randomization exists to make farming rewarding, farming is a part of the arpg genre
if you can’t play this genre as it is, don’t try to make it something else
GD is the better arpg out there, but the D3/PoE lazy guys keep coming
and about the thread-locking, that was the whole point of my post
^^
Luckily, I can also just delete posts and not lock entire threads.
We have attempted to make this site a place where people can speak their minds and post whatever they want (within guidelines). We discourage people from trying to stifle suggestions and even have a No-Reply section so that players can post their ideas and not have to suffer the backlash of the other forum members.
My point? Just let threads that you disagree with alone. Trust in the devs to read all the comments and suggestions and continue to make GD the game you want it to be.
And luckly, Dev’s won’t even consider these suggestions…
If you really are a mod with such a close minded way of using your “super-moderator” rights, you shouldn’t be a mod at all.
The foundation of online forums is DISCUSSION. If I disagree with something in a thread I’m allowed to speak my mind
Even more if it’s about something absurd like removing item’s random stat rolls!
But yeah, reading cold truth can be harsh in forums sometimes.
You have all the rights to delete my posts, I don’t mind at all.
Sorry guys if I offended anyone.
I’m off this subforum for the time being
^^
The devs read everything and do take input into thought…
Also, i don’t think its ok to attack someone based on their status of Dev, mod, Praetorian, normal user, ect…
Plus, i do not believe that he was even referring to you, no need to peace out because of this.
On topic, I like rolls on epics, legs, and mi’s, makes farming fun imo.
Lets see if you can follow your own train of thought here.
nah you just picked that bad stuff (sry fot that), my point still stands
random stats will be a thing in arpgs forever, whether you guys can accept it or not
ok, now is pce out for good
For me they way it is now is very good because:
I don’t have the feeling (got 2 85 equiped ultimate-finished chars, so just can say it for them) i had ever a legendarie i needed for an build with such bad stats that i couldnt deal with the game. I got an bad Mark of Divinity first but it also was a buff for my char.
But here comes my point… Now im lookin for crafting a “better” one and then
im having the feeling of getting buffed twice. And the secound effect is, if
u have spendet some time in it and craft it 5-8 times for a good one, then it
feels more special to me, way more rewarding getting it.
And if its like the Warpfire, the build will also work with bad one, with less dmg and if u need double time to kill something just because of that, even more motivation to get a better one. What leads me to trading, meeting people and also often getting new ideas via that…
Maybe i’m having good roll for his build and so on … It’s the core fun of such an game for me
So if i finished a build and im happy with it im also happy that i can play a bit
longer with it to get the acctually equip better. I normally stop a character after a short time when it’s at max-stats
Is this actually possible to solve through mods? I’ve been trying to figure out how but to no avail.
Please, no. Randomized stats is the part of ARPG core gameplay mechanics
Yes it does, they may not break builds but make so much difference. For example; items that give both +%oa and +oa may differ 70oa in total (min max).(girdle of stolen dreams for example). My perfect roll resulted in 250-300 more oa in total and %140 bonus damage in total. That is huge. For oa, da and crit damage stat rolls can make huge differences. Because roll range is -%15 - +%15 so %30 difference. Imagine %30 increase in every item in best scenario? Runed dagger of dreeg’s bonus damage may vary between %130 - %190. %60 is huge for ONE SLOT which means it may go up to %300 in total… Similar goes to viperfang grips also . Check grim dawn tools and you will see.
These stat rolling is already adding extra rng factor to being finding desired legendary hard due to huge item pool. Thus even if you are able to find desired, the chances of good rolls are another scenario. For fix, i can think of decreasing roll range or adding a npc that rerolls items or specific stat.
That was the first thing I tried, doesn’t work.
By way of proof, see below. This is a custom item I created. It only does one thing, adds 35% run speed. Note that I have AttributeScalePercent set to 0.0 and characterRunSpeedModifier set to 35.0. I then added the item to the Devil’s Crossing faction vendor for ease of testing and you can see the stat variance there. If I were to quit to main menu and restart, to force a reroll of the loot table, it will have a different value.
I feel that certain pieces at least, should heavily be biased towards max rolls. Primarily, anything that drops from the Celestial superbosses since you cannot re-fight them with the same character, it’s only 1 fight per difficulty level.
I did have the idea of legendary upgrades that would remove the stat jitter and spit out the perfect version. It would be a way to really perfect a character if someone wanted to go the extra distance. I think nowadays I’d rather start a new character, but I still like the idea of having it available.
Lol, don’t do this unless you want to nerf your items. That’s not attribute jitter.
There is only one stat I think should be absolutely consistent, and that is conversion. Every other stat can freely vary as far as I care. But conversion is an absolutely massive thing, and with randomization, it can completely make or break a legendary (Example would be any min roll conversion legendary is absolutely worthless generally, even if other stats are respectable or great, if you were specificly using it for said conversion.)
