Death Knight Tank (asking for advice)

I am currently working out how I want my Full-Tank Death knight to progress and am curious if people can give me some hints and constructive criticism

heres the build so far (ignoring the equipment part, only skills and devotion mostly)

It is supposed to be a build to play together with an infiltrator, we are not that high in level but I guess it is never to early to plan ahead

Build without items is not a good build. Overall skills and devotion that you’ve selected aren’t very good either. Your character must focus in one or in some cases two damage types. You need learn more about the game in general, check the late game sets in grimtools and read a few build and game mechanics guides especially the ones about Resist Reduction. I also suggest you look into the Build Compendium http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79419 and search for good Death Knight build there. I recommend you to pick the one that uses Krieg’s set since it’s pretty easy to get. I believe that there’s also a beginner build guide that doesn’t involve any legendary items.

And why are the devotions and skills not good?

Damage is also rather secondary since the Infiltrator I’m going to play with will deal tons of damage, the plan is rather to use taunt and survivability skills (and shield upgrades of course) to keep the enemies from attacking her

  1. If you’re gonna post a build, actually have the items on it so we can help you far better as we can’t do resists without that.
  2. It looks like you’re building for Physical damage which death knight actually doesn’t do on sword and board. both of the legendary death knight 1hs convert Phys into Aether/Phys on two of it’s WPSs.
  3. Tanking doesn’t work really in multi as aggro is based on damage dealt.
  4. here’s a bleeding/physical build you’d might like.

  1. didnt consider that, thanks
  2. so what damage? aetherial?
  3. wanted to use warcry to tank. in lower level (around 40) worked well so far
  4. gonna take a look on it but not sure if that is what i am looking for
  1. Thats not true. There is a physical death knight build from cccsennn2 in this forum. Can’t find the link right now that is able to perform very well (7’ish min glad crucible etc)

Aether would be far easy to farm out as there’s a easily farmed legendary death knight aether set. 3 different bosses all hold the pieces however.

Once again, The weapons meant for death knight do not support phys well. the build you’re refering to is using a weapon that doesn’t actually have a class focus. If anything, that weapon is meant for melee battlemage/witchblade.

While it is true that the kriegs set is probably the easiest legendary set to obtain I think Saisho is asking for some leveling advice. The krieg set death knight is certainly a very good endgame build yet it requires phys to aether conversion which is not trivial to optain pre krieg.
So for the leveling i would advise sticking to physical as it is the least gear dependend damage type in the game. I would recommend looking at Stupid Dragons “Beginner’s pre-Krieg Death Knight” guide for reference. Generally stick to Cadence (get rid of the transmuter) and Deadly Momentum (big damage boost) get Field Command and Squad Tactics for valuable stats. Drop Bone Harvest and Siphon Souls as their damage types don’t fit. Some notable Devotions are Assassins Blade (for reduced resistances), Light of the Empyrion (fits the tank style well and gives aoe) and Ghoul (sustain)

Actually lvling a Necromancer can be much easier. You only need to max out Spectral Wrath and Siphon Souls with the aether transmuter. Most enemies on normal will die very quickly. You can always respec later with the help the of Spirit Guide NPC.

The best Death Knight to start with is Aether Krieg one.
Maybe this build will give you some inspiration
