I’m attempting to do Achievements on Vanquisher to get a population of 500 without defensive walls, do fieldstone fences count as defensive walls? I just need something to hold back the raiders for a few moments, even doubling up layers. Would adding a palisade gate negate the term?

No, it’s literally palisades and their gates. Any type of fencing doesn’t count. Palisade gate will count.

Deleting defensive walls and gates will NOT give you the Achievement Pop. 500+ and no walls.
