Dev Steam 6th July 2023 summary

Pulled the relevant info from the stream.

Update is largest one yet.

Spirituality
Shrines: Preachers spreading whatever the faith is in your town.

Temple: Where you customise your faith. Relics: confer bonuses on to your town. How crops grow, happiness of your people, the health, how much damage your soldiers are doing. There’s actually one special relic that makes things harder for those achievement hunters out there. Also if you switch out a relic you won’t be able to change it again for 6 months ingame.

Once you get to the t2 temple and have 3 relics, you’ll start generating religion names. Names will generate depending on what relics you have, but as with villagers you can change the name of your religion to something else if you want to.

Raiders: they have a chance to drop a relic for you when you kill them.

Only 1 temple per village, but shrines help cover the areas the temple doesn’t reach.

Achievements: coming in 1.0.0, maybe in 0.9.5.

Ruins: ancient sites you can explore and excavate to discover new relics. That’s the main method to acquire them. The second is traders, they’ll have some rare relics for sale at times. Also can either leave the ruins if you like the look of them or harvest them for stone if you need the stone/space. There’s also a special relic you can obtain which will make raiders/predators more aggressive.

Books: New luxury feature for your housing. Library: provides entertainment like pubs do.

Farmers: Been optimised and now anticipate when/where they need to work so should help with planting/harvesting.

Logistics: Coming before 1.0 better ways to manage how you store your goods in your storage facilities. How much of a certain resource is stored in a building, to transfer resources between buildings. Why there’s the trading post limbo because had no method of moving resources between storage buildings.

Modding: Maybe in v0.9.0, by 1.0.0. Not going to be available all at once, but first seed sharing and map files and making new decorations. Steam workshop support also coming. Won’t require Melon Loader or similar.

Crypts: Coming in 1.0.0. Can store hundreds of dead villagers in them. May either be a standalone building outside of the graveyard or a building you put inside the graveyard as an upgrade. Might hold 500 people in a 2x2 or 3x3 area.

Combat: Not in 0.9.0, but before 1.0 New sub-menu in the TC where you can manage all your soldiers whether they assigned to a building or not. Can send them out on patrol to make sure roads are clear of boars for example or if you anticipate an attack coming from a specific direction.

New units: Basic soldiers and archers. Also mounted infantry and catapults. Raiders will also be able to have these.

New button on HUD to help control your combat groups.

Raider camps: Will spawn out in the world which you’ll be able to attack and get loot from.

Animals: Coming before 1.0.0 horses, chicken and goats.

Population limit: Maybe in 0.9.0, if not in the patch after that will be able to raise the limit. There’ll be a new setting in the Options where you can set your own population limit. So if you want a small town you can set the cap for that.

Guild Hall: Increases the efficiency of your town, but can only choose one guild at a time. Armament, Artisan, Clothier, Culinary, Metallury, Miners and Woodworkers. Use paper for filing to increase the efficiency of the specific industry. More Guildmasters = more efficiency.

Early Access: Will probably continue for another 5-8 months before 1.0.0 is released.

Zoom: No plans to change as it’s done for performance reasons.

5th tier of housing: Coming in 1.0.0 and will need spices and books as some of the luxury items needed to get to that 5th tier.
