I saw 8 once and thought it would be funny to drop my town center down in the middle of them to see what happened! Please tell me you did the same thing lol!
I didn’t, but I walked all my villagers through the middle of it. They insta died, which was to be expected, lol.
Mine fought back hard and killed many of the dens also but eventually they all died. They never got the city center built because they were fighting the whole time. Many of them had no health but still fought on.
Well, that’s a death zone for any unsuspecting villager…
I had a rather large group of raiders that were murdered by 5 wolf dens before they even reached my town…Thank you doggies. 
That is painful. I guess you have a very challenging map.
