DW pistols build... a few questions.

Hey guys,

Hoping to try a DW pistol build soon, just have a few questions…

  1. Which two classes tend to make the best combo for DW pistols?
  2. Which is the best default attack for DW pistols… thinking fire strike?
  3. Which Devotions are best for DW pistol build?

Check The Mad Sorcerer build in this Forum. Can’t link because I just made this account.

I use a Similar Build but with a Shotgun instead.

It depends on what your going for.

Brimstone Gunslinger thats one guide i put together that gives a good leveling path.

Pyro imho is a little stronger than Sorc atm… Both have their merits but it really comes down to what type of damage you want to do.

Don’t forget DW Exonerator’s and going Shaman / Arcanist. I have a druid i am building just for this build lol =)

So pyromancer is a good choice from the point of DPS then?

If your new i would say Pryo is far easier then everything else. Less gear Requirement and can go 2h / DW. Pyro also has the strongest tank of them all if you spec for it on the devotion. I think in pure DPS they are equal or or so… I would say that Sorc is far harder to play due to the lack of healing. Blood of Dreeg is OP for leveling.

Oh i forgot about this pistols yup. Tankiness is a problem on sorcerer, especially on my self found, no trade, start from 0 after delete all save games :d Offensive devotion setup -> 4,7 k life on Ultimate hah, but 19% life steal, maivens, resistance reduction from 4 sources and almost maxed resistances helps a lot.

How come Command isn’t seen as a vaible DW pistol build? Is this purely due to reduced DPS potential + nil healthing options?

You could technically do a Commando DW pistols. in B26 it was quite popular. The problem is the limited healing options to you. Sorc makes up for the healing with Mavens. Pryo has the best healing and possesion. Commando has the highest armor by far. a Commando could get 2400 armor fairly easily.

Anouther reason is that Thematically people like the fire / chaos / lighting builds. I am pretty sure you could make a very competative DW witchblade but it would probably favor 2h over DW.

what about a battlemage using cadence? i remember the gatling gun build by ceno beeing absolutely awesome a few month ago.

Changes to Cadance really made it a 2h skill. with ranged 2h the shot gaines 100% pass through.

Its a shame the Nightblade passives don’t lend very well to ranged DW…
