Hopefully I am posting in the right area. I spent several days looking at specific questions to dual wielding but have not gotten what I was looking for. Basically, I wanna know, as a new player, Just HOW IN THE HECK is a lvl 12 magic wep more powerful than a level 21 Epic :furious:. Yes, I read that you have to make sure your weapon matches your dmg type. My Witch Hunter is being used appropriately I thought but I guess not.
I understand, based on my perusals, that the dmg type is based off the direct dmg. I know that percentage means squat if there is not 1 point of the dmg of that type so a wep with 23 diff %of X dmg mean nothing to me if I cannot generate that type of dmg. Now maybe the dmg per sec is tabulated based on both wep and spells hence the lvl 12 magic weapon is better for as opposed to the Hound’s Bite

Hopefully I can add images now since this is crazy and I am sure I am doing this wrong, how does one post an inline image on this forum? The image link does not seem to work with dropbox
It’s hard to say without any data but for dps comparison you should look for flat damage sources (dot’s included) and attack speed.
You should also note that weapons in general have different swing speeds and slow weapons don’t profit as much from additional attack speed.
Also don’t look down on magic weapons, a good double affix yellow with attack speed can be a lot better than a non-as blue, especially for dual wielding since the as is beneficial for both weapons.
% don’t do anything at low level which also means that damage types don’t matter all too much yet.
@Chibba
No, that is exactly what I thought, the “blues” are just there to look shiny imo but one would think that a “blue” wep that is 8-10 levels ahead of an affixed yellow would be more powerful but that is just not the case
you use shadow strike as your main attack (LMB) and the yellow weapon adds +1 to shadow strike. that’s all there is to it, really.
if you (temporarily) remove SS as your main attack and slot the default attack as your LMB skill, the blue swords will probably show a higher dps number.
the dps number for a skill with a long cooldown as your LMB can be misleading - i think it doesn’t even take into account that your character will use normal weapon swings while the main attack is on cooldown.
You’re attaching too much importance on level requirement. There are a huge array of differences in GD that can make one weapon better suited for your build than another. The flat damage range, damage type/s (in relation to your particular build), +% bonuses, +% Attack/Cast Speed, and +Skills (again, in relation to your particular build). The last two being particularly influential.
Stop attaching so much importance upon level requirement.
…Thank you for these info guys. I will look into it. The reason I was surprised is because as @powbam said I was looking at the item level. But still it might do good to switch the LMB with the rmb
edit: yes, the default attack type makes a HUGE diff… I w:Das not aware Thank you
