Enable selling at Special Vendors

Especially in Rogue Dungeons they would serve well in selling loot for those who want to earn a few iron bits more. Whats the reasoning behind to disable it?

I think it fits the roguelike theme quite well. You have only one go per session, and you also need to be selective with the loot you pick up, so that your bags are not full before you finish the dungeon.

And since the loot filter was improved I only risk to run out of space in the Bastion of Chaos and Port Valbury.

I know crafting is expensive, but how comes you run out of money that you want to be able to sell more? Are you mostly playing roguelike dungeons and not farming in other areas?

so you don’t run back and forth and pick up every last item for a few bits of iron.

Play the game instead of being a transport mule for half an hour for no real benefit…

Dont get how its an argument for vendors not being able to sell. You have explained how you handle the circumstance.

Thats not the reason. I have asked why it is disabled? Just for being more selective during a Rogue Dungeon? Selective of what? Rares for Iron Bits? Doesnt make any sense to me. Then it must be some kind of “design” choice. In practice you either:

  • Dont pick rares at all

  • Pick until you are full and drop them for legs/useable MIs

Dont get what makes it more appealing to disable them from a design persepctive. To force players not to pick up rares while in dungeons? Kinda weird…

Wich areas make sense to farm aside looking for Nemesis/MIs/Ugdenblooms/AetherCrystalls? Thats like all there is, isnt it so?

Vendors are mostly situated at the midle of the dungeon, wich would make sense them being able to buy your rares. So its a design to force players to either:

  • Dont pick rares at all

  • Pick till full, then drop to make space for legs/epics/useableMIs

I get it its this kind of design choice.

I believe thematic reason is this: you’ve passed the dungeon gate so now you’re on your own. No help of any kind until you win or die. You can only take away as many items as you can carry.
It just makes those environments a bit more unfriendly which they are supposed to be.

If that is not the reason, why do you care in the first place? I mean for most people it would not make much of a difference, although…

If players are left to their own devices, many are doing things which the developers have not intended, distract them from the core game experience and can ultimately be detrimental for their enjoyment.

I also sell surplus rares, but I primarily pick them up to equip them - still most of the loot is being sold. But making money is not the motivation.

Exactly. It’s not GD’s strongest aspect, and other games put more emphasis on resource management - but here you need to manage your inventory space. Maybe more importantly you minimize the time you spend with backtracking. Instead you can use the time to enter another dungeon (or this again) and fight more bosses and have better chances at better loot from them.

The primary function of the roguelike vendors is to sell MIs, supply you with potions (if you are unprepared), and give new players another chance to get blueprints they are missing.

I’m not a great farmer, but I have been told that Monster Totems make farming main campaign areas more rewarding.

Most of my characters dont pick rares at all, have finished gear so to say.

Was doing a dungeon with a character that was picking up rares cause he needed the bits. Getting full inventory and just arriving at the vendor made me think: “Hey, why that dude wont buy anything?” I know its like this since forever but still, wanted to hear the reasoning behind it.

Its just game design and i am a bit too serious
Thanks for your replies

if you enter with an empty inventory and just pick rares and higher, there is not a lot you leave behind. You will have to ignore magic items however.

I’d say if money is the objective, pick everything that is 2x2 or smaller and ignore the rest, then your inventory should be sufficient or close to that)

Yea, in those situations in rogue dungeons where I am not looking to collect items for iron I tend to just pick up amulets and rings to compact my space, and obviously any lucrative drop that I am looking for.

Never really have a stash issue. If you do find a really important item that you want and your stashes are full, just dump some of the stuff to make space.

No-Brainer to dump arbitrary value stuff to fit in a nice find.

If collecting items for iron is what you are focusing on, then the rogue dungeons are probably not your best approach here.
