End Game farming

Coming from POE after playing there for quite some time I am honestly done with the game and went ahead and bought grim dawn.

My addiction to arpg is honestly the grinding as weird as that sounds I like putting in the hard work to find that next piece that is unique.

Other game such as POE and like D3 have maps and rifts to keep spamming to hunt for loot. Does GD offer anything of the sort, I did see the crucible but wasn’t sure if that was really a method for farming gear or just an alternative game mode/ play style.

So is there end game farming and if so where do I farm for hours on end!!!

thank you in advance.

There are no maps. You can farm the game’s bosses however. On Ultimate every area scales to your level, so that gives you some variety where to farm.

Crucible is an arena, not sure if it is much better for farming. It definitely feels more like a grind from being repetitive

GD is mostly about the journey, PoE and D3 are mainly about the lategame.
Endgame farm here consists of boss/dungeon runs. Locations are predetermined, there are no random generated areas.

If you insist on a similar to PoE endgame experience, eventually try out this mod.

Do you guys think we will ever get something like that in the vanilla version at some point or will this purely be a modded option? Either way the game still has tons of replay ability and i still think its better than POE and D3 combined and there seems to be lots of farming/grinding just not in a random aspect like you guys stated.

The way that the grim dawn map works is much different than Diablo 3 and Path of Exile, it’s more similar to D2 where you farm bosses, but there are some big improvements and new features in GD.

The game map itself is not random, the layout is always the same. Throughout the map there are obviously bosses, which always spawn, but the rest of the monsters, which can be easy packs or heroes, are random spawns. End game usually consists of running routes to bosses and checking areas where heroes have a chance to spawn (most faction heroes have a 30% chance to spawn at a locations, however not all). This is pretty cool, because you might have a lucky run where all 4 hero locations will spawn an enemy.

The other thing that is cool about endgame farming, is that there is a faction system. You gain positive reputation with factions to access very useful gear, but you also gain negative reputation with factions, which influences the number of enemies/heroes you face. When you reach ‘despised’ more enemies will spawn for that faction (for you to farm), once you reach ‘hated’ more heroes will spawn for that faction. Once you reach nemesis, the most powerful hero of that faction will spawn, these are the most difficult bosses in the game (in generals). The spawn location of the nemesis is random (in a series of possible locations), once per game session. So you develop runs that check nemesis spawn locations, and it’s best to figure out where heroes spawn along the way.

For the vanilla game, there’s always the rogue dungeons. Each has a boss treasure room, possible Nemesis spawns and a much higher number of mobs per area ratio than most of the rest of the game.

Now we only need an NPC that allows you to teleport to the entrance of the dungeon. Add that to the list of requested QoL additions for the expansion.

Random generated areas in core game, like suggested in this thread won’t hurt at the slightest. It will be still optional, but will scratch the itches of zombiefarm addicts.

And will also bring a shitload of new players if done right. There’s plenty of PoE/D3 players who actually like this game, but the only reason they won’t play it is the lack of actual “lategame” the way they use to know it.

I call for a sellout. Embrace it, Crate, and let the cash flow through you.

they will not hurt, agreed, but the real question is, would that effort be better spent on something else, like additional areas.

what is this based on ? I assume they will also need closed servers at the very least, not just random rifts / maps

First of all, the OP is asking what end-game is in Grim Dawn, not asking about opinions for how people hope Grim Dawn will implement end-game ‘features’ of other games.

There is nothing wrong with end-game farming in Grim Dawn. The map and spawn system combined with factions is interesting and nuanced.

There is no reason that end-game farming needs to be based on random maps and random monsters. That is not a rule that defines end-game. I personally prefer farming bosses/nemesis than just spamming random areas with random monsters (to me, this is mindless and boring), it’s more interesting to me to have to build up my knowledge of the Grim Dawn world and figure out how to farm efficiently within the parameters of the game.

I suppose it’s possible they may be up to something yet as the expansion is still being worked on and they haven’t released every tidbit of info on what it will bring.

IMO at this moment, it is still possible they may surprise us with something of the sort.

Well, on comments of random players on both forums. No matter representatives belong to different audiences, the complaint is always one and the same.

Yes, the lack of dedicated servers is another common issue, but as long as I know it won’t happen, didn’t even mention it.

And last but not least, we all know I’m always right, and the words I choose to announce the divine truth are inspired by the so amazingly bright intellect and razor sharp mind I barely manage to live with. I call it a burden.
