I get the fact that this game needs more 1handers than 2handers.
But so far i’ve gotten 17 epic 1handers and not a single 2hander…And i’m looking over the loot tables of the bosses i’ve killed and they’re all dropping 1handers…exept for the big brute in the start of act 2…he drops a lousy yellow 2hander.
Maybe add 2handers to the loot table of more bosses in the early 1-50 game?
I’ve got a sorcerer running 2 handed rifles, I’m surprised you haven’t had many drop - on both playthroughs (veteran) i had always a descent 2h rifle to choose from or use, there was more 1h pistols etc - i think maybe you may of had a bad run in drop rates with RNG.
Either that or i was lucky to have mine drop reasonably often.
No 2handed clubs (which seems to be infinitely better dps than 2handed swords for some reason)
I’ve gotten 2 green clubs…one from the store and one from drops, so i’m not without a good weapon, i just miss the epic -farmable- ones from low level bosses =)
Because there’s a few mysteries like this for me too, what you can do is put both your options in your weapon slots / alternative slot - then go hit that target dummy in Homestead and get a feel for any difference… maybe take off any buffs etc, make 10 hits of both, record them if you want accuracy and see what you get in average…
For me though, you’ll have a replacement in not too long unless your in endgame… so if you don’t notice any sizable difference, your probably better off continuing then spending that much time with calculations like this, and waiting for a better drop and hanging out with the cooler looking of the two.
One part of the equation is that armor that reduces damage by a flat amount. So while 1h’s hit more often, they hit for lower damage. When a flat damage amount is reduced from the 1h, it’s takes a larger percentage of the damage away than when a higher damage 2h hits a target. After armor is factored in, the overall damage over time should be closer than what the DPS says.
Yup that’s a large part of your question… and unfortunately I’m fairly sure the target dummies don’t have any armor to give you an idea on this - same scenario you could try both weapon / alternative slot on some enemy’s you enconter and see what your results are to find your own truth in the best selection of weapon… is a good idea here and draw your own conclusions.
For me it’s a more a matter on elemental resistances of the monsters, as my +fire is 400% modified - so the nature of armor penetration seems less the question but how much my enemy’s elemental resistances are and what the base damage is on the 2 hander rifles / melee, fire is taken as a percentage of this with skills / devotion.
