Equal Phyisque/cunning ratio HC lvl 40 - char f***ed?

Hi all

I have a lvl 4p spellbreaker and a lvl 40 Commando - guns.

I started them early in the game and unforutunalely did not realise how powerful phys is ergo I 1:1 phys and cunning on these chars.

Are they useless now. Or can I regain point ratios by applying phys on all next levels. I feel they may not make the phys requirements for later on.

The commando has soldier skills which can act as phys.

Am I over worrying about this?

Any response welcome.

And just to say how I appreciate the help and feedback I’ve got from these forums. Most grateful.

I play completely HC,

If they’re both level 40, with a 1:1 phys/cunn spending ratio, then your Commando at least should be fine, but be very careful. 20 points is the ‘extended’ spending limit, just pour everything into physique and try to make use of that extra physical/pierce damage you bought yourself while being very, very careful not to die(you should hopefully have good practice being on HC).

The Spellbreaker might be unsalvageable. Using Cunning implies melee, but without good equipment and strategy Spellbreakers are gonna have a tough time. Unless you can get infinite mirror, it might be easier to just redo as a caster with all/most physique and any spares put into spirit.

I would just invest in cunning or spirit for gear requeriment, unless your build is spirit or cunning dependant for dps. But I’m for most of the points into physique. (almost all builds max physique)

I am new to this game. Started playing last weekend and made a nightblade/shaman character that I found on a youtube vid. It was only around 4 minutes long video that briefly went over the combat style, skills, devotions, stats and gear.

So far I’m at the mid 20’s and I’ve only died a handful of times. I wasn’t entirely sure of attribute allocation and so I’m going a 2:2:1 on phys, cun, and spirit.

I only play on normal, Im hoping this isn’t going to be too much of an issue. I’m not planning on doing a hardcore run as I’m casual and just play for fun. Not sure how far I’ll get into subsequent playthroughs on elite or even ultimate if its dependent on min-maxing.

Your Commando is fine. Soldier has Veterancy and Military Conditioning to help with physique requirement.

Your Spellbreaker may have trouble equipping heavy chest and leg gear, but it depends on how much physique you are getting from masteries and devotion too. But for a spellbreaker it’s more likely that you’ll equip light armor, so you are fine too.

If you want to know the maximum requirements for gear and learn some more, read my guide: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47917.

You have MUCH more freedom in softcore. So dont worry about what you have done so far.

2:2:1 is very light on physique. The “min maxing” in grim dawn is very simple. Get the minimum sprit and cunning to equip end game gear, 100% of the rest of your points go into physique. Even for mages. You dont HAVE to have to, but doing anything squishier you really have to know what you are doing and why/how you wont die

This usually means 70 points in physique, or more

People keep saying this but how are new players suppose to know end game gear requirements?

Keep a dozen or so points unspent until you hit 75.

I suppose everyone learn from experience. I am in my case.

just don’t spend all points as you get them, so you can invest as needed…

lvl 40 at 1:1 means you have 20 in both attributes. secondary is usually 20-25. so stop and go for physique or you will be too weak in survivability.

I have to say, I honestly don’t get why attribute points are set in stone. Even a once off do over somewhere late game would be better than having to re-play the game just because you didn’t put x points in an attribute.

Attrib points make very little difference, so unless you spent half of them or so wrong, there is no need to start over

Good to know, thanks for all the replies fellas.
