In virtually every game I play I at some point come to a situation where I loose patients in waiting for more villagers to migrate/come of age and I just build the buildings that are needed. This inevetably leads to a hugh worker shortage. That could be fine and the game can still be playable, but if you get below a certain number of workers, the maintenance starts to rapidly fall behinde. And that’s fine. What IMHO becomes a bit tideous is to individually select each building and press the ‘force maintanance’ button. This is true for most buildings and for bee hives in particular.
If there was a functionality to group select all buildings, similar to the wall functionality, and thereby be able to press ‘force maintanance’ for several buildings at a time, that would hughely improve the fun factor of the game.
The problem is you’re building too much too quickly so those labourers/builders who’d be doing repairs automatically aren’t because there are so many other building projects that need to be done.
Yep but I loose patience. Sorry. I still think it would be a great addition to the game to handle the maintanance using the same type of functionality as the walls.
To be honest, I’d put this as part of the Low Population Increase problem, where you now can go years with 0 Immigration and less than 10 new people per year increase of births over deaths. After several game-years of being able to build and man 1 or less new Buildings a year, the Frustration Factor becomes the new FF.
Adding more Food supposedly increases Immigration and Births (although I have not seen any direct relationship in Tier 4), but that requires new Barns (6 - 12 workers) or new Fields (10+ workers) so you can only build 1 of those per year and properly man it, at most.
+1 for the group select for repairs, or a shortcut key to repair all would be much appreciated!
My settlement is now T4 with 430 years… I have negative growth by now, 1600+ house accommodation with 1230 pop, food for 10 months, my elderly pop outnumbers the newborns and immigration of 1 per year can’t cope with the deaths, the scenario will become devastating for the next couple years as more and more villagers get older and fewer and fewer ones born or immigrate.
This leaves me with less and less villagers for labour and maintenance, too often I must individually select 10 to 15 buildings for immediate repairs … it’s painful …
Got to a point where I’m now considering to pause this settlement until a new game update comes to fix this or I’ll face a continuous negative pop spiral.
I like to build out in advance, pause the game, place a bunch of buildings down, but then stop the construction until I’m ready. This allows me to plan the city better. Problem is I have to click on EVERY induvial decoration, building, well, etc. to turn off/on the construction. There has to be a better way of doing this.
