Life Leech here refers to the damage type and not the ADCtH
The difference between the two is fairly simple-
ADCtH = Health returns for damage dealt
Life Leech = DoT Damage which returns life per tick
For those of who don’t know DoTs never heal you even if the DoT’s source is from % Weapon Damage
As a fan of DoT type builds i personally would love to see Life Leech get more support, do you agree or do you think it should be removed or left in it’s current state?
It’s nearly completely useless in its current state. Always wondered why it even exists, probably a holdover from some distant past that everyone forgot about. Would need lots of work to make it viable as a damage type, and that’s putting it mildly.
I don’t think it could ever be viable as a method of dealing damage and be balanced at the same time cuz of the fact that you heal 100% of the damage it deals.
Lets say that they buff it (hypothetically) to the point where you can stack it as a dot of something like 10k tics on a boss.
It would still be a very poor source of damage while healing you back to max hp each and every second…
Buffing it to the point where it could be used as a viable but not OP sustain mechanic (while contributing practically nothing to your dps due to its nature i discribed above) is a thing i too would be glad to see though.
It is not meant to be a damage source but a sustain source. Similar to energy leech, you don’t use it to drain enemies mana pools, you use it to sustain your own energy. (also because you can’t actually permanently drain enemies anyway) Damage wise it could never match up to any other type of damage, and it shouldn’t. The damage it deals is the equivalent of having 100% ADCTHP, and we all know how many nerfs went down to lower that already rare stat to become even harder to stack.
I’d like to see it become viable only as an alternative to hp regen/adcthp, and I don’t think it would require too much work so long as people keep in mind it’s not meant as a damage source but an alternative source of life regen. ATM with some pretty crappy items you can hit around 450 leech on hit using vampiric bonewall.
edit: using ghoul, bat, and wendigo you can stretch that leech even farther actually, but not much more. If it scales with all damage then you can go even higher easily.
I would love to see more possibilities with Life Leech, Energy Leech and Energy Burn (particularly the last one).
The way they are now, they can be removed and we won’t see any real difference (maybe not Energy Leech, has anyone already analyzed the mecanic to see its real impact?).
But if made viable, I Wonder if the impact one the game would be positive (new ways to build a character) or negative (making an already complex game even more complex).
Yeah I would love to see life leech buffed or reworked in the expansion. I got really excited gearing up with it while leveling only to realize it was doing almost nothing haha.
I would love to see it get a buff so it can be used as a hp sustain, like energy leech as asylum101 said. Energy leech is great when your surrounded but life leech is pointless in it’s current state.
