What if after completing enough bounties or reaching a level of reputation above Revered with a faction, they award you with a unique Legendary? For example, Father Kymon would relinquish his personal Warhammer or Bourbon would give you an insignia proving you are the saviour of Devil’s Crossing etc.
I’m pretty sure I remember seeing that it’s confirmed that the upcoming expansion won’t have any new faction tiers after Revered so it’s unlikely. Perhaps someone will have fun modding it in and creating the items :p.
It makes sense in-story too. Once you’ve cleared out the actually POTENT forces around, say, Devil’s Crossing in all three difficulties, Bourbon could go all “I’ve kept this in case anything big came near us, but now that you’ve killed them all, you’ll have more use for it than I will.” Maybe kill all the named bosses around the area, in all difficulties, and then you get a special legendary. That way you aren’t tied to Faction Rep, and it could still be added.
Christ, some of us can’t even deal with rare crafting mats being non-transferrable, how are we supposed to cope with Soulbound Legendaries?
I do like the idea though. At the very least, the Kymon and Vigil questlines are probably going to end up long and important enough that it would be nice to get a Legendary at the very end, as is the case with the main story and Anasteria’s quest chain. If it’s a cool faction-specific legendary, all the better.
I’m all for account bound, but soul bound isn’t reasonable IMO. No real reason I can’t share everything between my characters at will. Not a HUGE reason you can’t trade them, either, since it’s a single player, moddable game.
If it’s only one Legendary / Faction that may be difficult to choose what stats they would have since each faction caters to many different damage types/skills/mastery’s/etc…
And instead of account bound you could have these characters become Nemesis and drop the item as well if you reach that enemy faction level. This way it would make sense to be able to share it between accounts. I mean, raising a friendly faction usually is easier then getting an enemy faction to Nemesis level I believe - or friendly faction you get a blueprint to use with an extra stat via blacksmith.
