Factorio

Turns out there hasn’t been a Factorio thread here for almost three years. Honestly only just heard about it myself and, on a whim, decided to pick it up and give it a whirl.

Six hours later I realized I’d lost about as much time as when I first started playing Grim Dawn.

Holy shit, this game is addicting. Do not get it if you don’t have time to spare. But if you do, consider this my recommendation.

I’ve been struggling to find a way to describe it accurately. It’s somewhere of a cross between Age of Empires, SimCity, and Minecraft, taking the best parts of those games and throwing them all together in a stew of creativity and progress. And it does so wonderfully. Also for an Early Access Title: There’s basically no bugs. I haven’t found one in 19 hours of gameplay, and from what I can tell, people are having the same experiences.

There’s a couple balance problems (in my opinion) but aside from that the game is essentially perfect as-is…and its only a v0.12.29 version; v0.13 is on the horizon, v0.14 beyond that, and I imagine there’s bounds more to come even still before full-release.

it’s simply the best game for ruining your sleeping pattern

Picket it up recently, it’s a ton of fun and very addicting. The only problem I have is that I’m terrible at making a proper layout. :stuck_out_tongue:

Played it some time ago, when there was no multiplayer.

The biggest problem I have is the combat and alien part, as they really suck at the moment. That are probably the worst part of the game. Its somewhat better now as you can build tanks and power armor is stronger than before, but still the combat is very lacking and unpolished.

I have it on my wishlist and it looks like a really good game but…

The graphics are bad  I’m usually not bothered by a games graphics but they do look very old and I’m not sure if I could get into it.

sunk several dozens of hours in that game over a period of ~3-4 days^^
many sleepless nights, went from my average “playing till 1am” to “playing till 7 am”

it feels like a “simulator” since you´re going to get masses of resources, and the goal is pretty much to build a flawless economy - exactly what I like
it requires a lot of thinking…like, how to make this go fully automatic with low downtime and high capacity/room for failure.
