I always thought that’s one of the games weakest points, it’s mostly brown with some color here and there, could definitely use more colors overall, and maybe the details are too much, like in the Transformers movies there is so much detail that all the robots just look like a pile of metal parts.

leather and metal armor tends to look brownish and grey… still you get plenty of shapes and colors on top of that.
Not sure how I’d feel about some metal armor that was painted yellow or blue or …

(That’s an aether/IT tremor battlemage, a concept I was working on way back before AoM, when cast speed was pretty difficult to come by for soldiers. Bad build back then, even worse now. Not a bad look, though. I like the idea of bulky armour and a massive sword being necessary to channel the massive aether blasts through.)

How do you crop your images so the menu buttons aren’t visible?

Uhh… they just crop them in an image editing tool like MS Paint I’m guessing? Or they use a screenshot tool that grabs only part of the screen, like Lightshot.
On-topic: Here’s my current one (Purifier). Don’t think I’ll be ever changing it. Though I need some new boots, these don’t match the outfit perfectly. Sucks the Justice outfit does not have any boots. 
I replaced the Justice top (the one malawiglenn above is using) with the Illusion one here, not sure if I like it more now but meh, I wish we could recolor armors/effects!
