Thanks so much for the nice build idea sheet. Now I want to try your SkyFall (sky shard) and bloodrager’s deadly shot build
This character does not use and has no abilities for applying direct damage to the enemy.
Easily passes the absolute and kills all nemesis, except for iron maiden.
One of my favorite characters, by the way.
My favorite is any build that starts off with Devouring Swarm… Because devouring Devouring Swarms with my Devouring Swarm is delicious.
Wait… Am I understanding this build right? You let Maw and Chilldread proc, and those proc your procs, thus proccing more procs? That’s… it? And that works?
I’m duly impressed, you got a proc chaining build to function without even having to trigger it yourself. Well done. I would love to see some video of how this looks in action.
I’m also terribly jealous that you even got the greens for this. I’ve been farming for Doom Bolt and Chaos Bolt proc gear for ages, to make a Bolt build that starts everything with one manual Doom Bolt. I have exactly… None, of the greens, for it.
No, nights chill start procs chain, it would be hell of a boring to wait some mob to hit you to start procing.
Ah. Forgot the second piece has damage. Never use Nightblade. That kinda makes it even better. Must be a flashier version of POE’s RF builds, you walk around and everything dies.
It doesn’t need damage to proc on-attack. A debuff like Veil of Shadows or CoF counts as an attack.
I didn’t think Veil counted, since it was an Aura, not Casted. I knew Curse did, though, that’s handy. Made a few builds with Eldritch Fire on that, Chaos/Vit ones mostly, get all my RR-ing out of the way at once.
Funny you should say that as that was the very first build idea that got me interested in playing this game. I would love to see what your build would look like for that? I picked up an empowered anarchy and I crafted a rhowari belt at level 40 just working on getting the rep to get the level 70 version. Both those items are currently on my witch hunter. The question I’ve always had is what other gear pieces and skills do you put with it and also how would one level such a thing? Would not night’s chill or curse of frailty be the best trigger? When playing with proc builds I found CoF was superb for triggering repeated procs from items and devotions.
This is my plan. http://www.grimtools.com/calc/Q2z6vj2A
I figure CoF, then Doom Bolt. If that isn’t enough, then I have Chaos Bolt from Void Touched Ammo, and Decimation should be causing some procs as well, and Eldricth Fire too. My worry isn’t getting the procs, but that all those procs have a cooldown. The Doom Bolts are 5 seconds, the Chaos Bolts are 2… Hopefully everything is dead by then? The Bolt from Ammo isn’t really going to be doing too much damage, I think. I might end up CoFing bosses, Doom Bolting, and then waiting five seconds for a second round to kill them. Dunno.
I never WILL know, if I can’t get all the greens.
*Yes, I DO know I’d have more OA if I used BoD. Since I HATE BoD… I’m not using it.
EDIT: Also, I’d dream of a green chest too, but I’m already farming for quite enough I think.
Mine is pistol and shield the build http://grimcalc.com/build/1009-jab38E . I will reserve overgaurd for when expansion comes out cause blast shield is still more viable than overgaurd. Your damage is mostly from other sources not directly from your earthscorcher pistol. Enchanted Flint in shield, Ulzuin’s set, and my conflagration. Damage looks weak in stats but as you fire your weapon everything goes dead in ultimate
Why do you hate blood of dreeg? I’ve been picking up greens with doom bolt procs and had an empowered anarchy drop. Hoping the game will be nice to me and give me more doombolt procs
Your build looks interesting but wouldn’t nightblade be a better option? If you don’t use blood of dreeg do you just chug potions? Or is there some other way you survive?
Also is viper any good if it is ele resist reduction? Does vit and chaos damage count as ele?
Viper also has 3% OA.

only a rough sketch. i am still working out the build and am only level fifty something. basically a summoner. making a attempt at figuring out how different skills work with summons. i know the two devotion skills are using my stats. i am thinking all the auras though are adding to the summons damage pool and magnifying it. can’t be certain though.
right now i am trying to add as much damage into the pool as possible and going for skills that magnify the pool as much as possible. i think at some point i switched from elemental pet damage boosts to all pet damage boosts. i am still working on that though in the devotion tree. it gets rather expensive in crystals.
the build is turning out to be a lot more complex then i thought. as well as inspiring numerous other builds based around thoughts i had while working on this one. like devotion proc skills not using pet stats means my stats need to be worth something to use them. so it might be worth making a build that focuses on increases both pet damage and mine. using the auras to create a giant booster for as many as possible.
thanks. didn’t know that. has inspired me to try some builds that that would help with.
i have mouse with six extra buttons on the top of it. to make things easy to remember i just bound them to the one to six keys on the board. so they will match up with those part of the bars in games. just recently found out grim dawn potions had key assignments. i bound those to the mouse wheel. still sorting out the optimal bind for them. down wheel for heal, up wheel for energy, and midle wheel button for moving the camera. i normally don’t use the last two. still doesn’t feel right not having them bound though.
i just have to remember it. i tend to panic and forget that i left the potions on the eight and nine bar positions so i would know there count. not to actually use their associated keys.
Few things that came to my mind seeing your build project :
-
Maybe consider Fang of Ch’Thon for more RR
-
Even if you don’t like BoD, it’s not only for the OA, the physical resist is nice for a caster (for every kind of build I would even say) and more hp regen won’t hurt your build
-
And why go Witchblade ? Conjurer would bring more RR for vitality with Devoring Swarm and hp/resistances with Heart of the Wild can replace soldier passives
-
Some Cooldown reduction could be nice too (even mandatory), as in the current state you need to wait 6.5 sec between 2 Doom Bolts and you don’t have any skills to cast in the mean time … and no, every thing will not be dead, especially bosses and nemeses. Maybe try to grab Time Dilatation
-
why no investment in Sigil of Consumption ? A second skill to cast wouldn’t hurt
You welcome
Concept is indeed interesting, but imo you would achieve much better results if you would make something more aether oriented with a Decree of Aldrich, offhand, shard of agrivix and Anasteria hood. Also good choice than would be taking devotions that include spear of heaven and light of empirion.
I’d rather the extra proc, but I do have the offhand giving me RR.*
I know it’s nice, but I still hate keeping it up.
I’m focusing Chaos, not Vit, so I’d rather have the tankiness and OA I’m getting out of Soldier.
Yeah, CDR would be pretty nice.
I do have a second skill, technically. Chaos Bolt out of Void Touched Ammo, so I can proc in between my manual Doom Bolt’s cooldown. That’s the only reason I have Ammo on my offhand.
If you’ve a good idea to include some CDR, I’d at least consider it. Not sure about Time Dilation, I’ll do some devotion checking… Never had occasion to use it, though, so I’ve no idea how well it’d sort out.
- EDIT:
Forgot what blade I was using apparently. No proc on that green, that one’s for maxing Possession. So maybe Fang would sort out better, maybe not. Would have to try it.
EDIT 2:
http://www.grimtools.com/calc/eVLzb5NG
I lose around 300 OA and Wayward Soul, gain Time Dilation and 20 RR out of Fang. Presumably better?
Looks fun to watch as you play it. Well done.
