Feature suggestion that will make you my hero

Give us a notebook so we can write reminders to ourselves about the state of the game, the development plan we’re following, important goals we’re pursuing, etc., so that when we come back to a saved game we can pick up where we left off instead of having to spend an hour clicking on everything to try to get some idea of where we were and what we were doing.

For instance, if I desperately need to build a vault, and for that I need to buy some silver ingots, it would be a whole lot easier (and less frustrating) to just read that than to relearn it the hard way.

Frankly, I don’t know why every strategy game doesn’t offer this. It seems like a no-brainer to me. You might even display the notebook on the screen for the player whenever he loads a save as a courtesy.

Why don’t you just use a notebook in real life? That’s a lot of design and programming work for a feature that players can easily do themselves with a notebook and a pen.

I did exactly that when I started and now it is simply memory. Don’t ask devs to spend time and resources on such trivial items. I am really looking forward to 1.0!

  1. Because it may be weeks, months, or years until I come back to the game, and to have the information kept with the game rather than in a place that may well get lost or discarded is preferable.
  2. A notebook function would take about 5 minutes to implement.
