Firestrike + WPS

I’m wondering if Firestrike’s damage procs still go off when Nightblade WPS procs or does the WPS proc take precedent and then you go back to getting Firestrike damage procs again. I can’t tell with so much going on in the screen to see if it’s one or the other.

FS is just like a passive damage bonus for melee so they stack quite nicely.

Same with Mistborn, Beronath, Savagery.

Only cadence would overwrite (you don’t get it) WPS on the third hit.

Was just wondering because I’m literally melting through mobs to the point where I almost just walk by and they drop, but when I took whirling death and had 3 WPS at 20% I noticed a drastic decrease in melting same said mobs. Since I have so much AE with explosive strike and flame torrent I decided to drop whirling death for now…

This is cuz WD has lowest %weapon damage (<100%, which decrease you FS damage) and longest animation. I use it only in a bleed builds as additional source for bleed.

Don’t take WD. The only good thing about it is that the animation isn’t as slow as Belgothian shears and hits more enemies. But %wp dmage is too low. AQQ and Execution are the ones

Could someone please explain to a new player how exactly those WPS procs work?

For the sake of argument let’s assume I have maxxed out lvl 22 Fire Strike which gives:

125% Weapon Damage
76 Fire Damage
+124% Physical damage

And lets also assume I have level 1 Whirling Death which gives:

50% Weapon Damage
20 Piercing Damage
14 Bleeding Damage over 5 seconds

Further lets assume for simplicity’s sake the weapon I wield constantly does exactly 100 physical damage and that I have no other damage buffs in place.

A regular Fire Strike then should do 1001.251.24 = 155 physical damage and 76 fire damage, correct?

But what happpens when Whirling Death is procced?

  • Does the 50% weapon damage from Whirling Death replace the 125% from Fire Strike?
  • Are the two multiplied resulting in 62,5% weapon damage?
  • Added together for 175% weapon damage?

What about the constant fire damage from Fire Strike and piercing/bleed damage from Whiring Death?

Whirling death and firestrike’s WD will be multiplied together to 62.5%. The skill damage will just be added on to the attack.
