While Normal is fine in the beginning transitioning from normal to elite will hurt. What level are you? If you played on Normal i’m guessing you aren’t far above 40.
I suggest that before getting to elite play Veteran ti’ll level 50. Farm areas with chtonics to level faster like Loghorrean are (no need to kill him just level with trash), Forsaken Wastes, Bastion of Chaos (remember to put on that imbued silver and activate it).
After that start working on reputation for factions you need. Learn their augments(what they do, level requirement and reputation requirement). For example you have Aspect of the guardian in Occultist. That pretty much takes care of poison resistance. Very important later on. So in this case you don’t need to farm reputation for rovers to get poison resist with Venomguard powder. Aspect of the Guardian also gives Physical resistance which is very important in this game so I hope you took it. It’s main skill Blood of Dreeg also gives you a periodic on demand %heal.
Whatever path you choose for you character those two skills you should take.
Well said, when i started off my friend (new to ARPGs) boasted about his high DPS when we both started, yet i was doing much better mainly because the Great God Dreeg had blessed me
Ok i’ve just read your grimcalc post. you will need to choose between Bloody pox and Dreegs Evil Eye. If you go for DEE then get Night’s chill from Nightblade for debuff (very important, very good skill for damage. Pneumatic burst + Blood of Dreeg means you have two instand heals. Put as many points as you can in these and don’t forget aspect of the guardian also. Also take out phantasmal blades unless you are building around them otherwise it’s just one more button to push that doesn’t do much.
You can make this guy caster or melee and both of these with many combination. It’s a skill intensive class with lot’s of buttons to push on so try to keep it simple. Bellow is aa video of what this class can do melee/caster hybrid, tears everything up. the guy is german but you’ll get the idea from the video:
Mind you, he has high quality end game very specific items.
I’m either 46 or 48, can’t remember off the top of my head. I’ll definitely have to farm veteran a little bit to get up to 50 and maybe a little bit of gear. Elite heroes are killing me faster than I’ve been killed yet. I don’t even think I have resistances, so that’s probably a really bad thing. I actually really enjoyed that last area, I think the Loghorrean one. I may just go back there and play around.
Love all the suggestions guys. You’ve all got me so excited for this it’s crazy.
Hi guys! So, I reset my skills and tried to streamline things based around Dreegs Evil Eye and then went to Normal Veteran mode and ran around some of the hard areas. It was now too easy, and I went to Elite and made my way towards the Warden with a lot less issue. The only couple times I died is when I tried the huge monster in the cave all alone, Solazar and when a few hero monsters were hidden in a big pack.
I still seem squishy and damage is very, very bursty since I have nothing to cast whenever I want and there are cooldowns now and then. It makes me kind of turn off by the setup, unless there’s something I did wrong. Anyway, I made it to level 50 and was able to put on some of the nice gear I got. Damage is pretty damn good so I sacrificed some Acid/Poison % for higher defense and resists.
Any suggestions to where I may have went wrong or is there something I missed?
If you’re going to use DEE as your main skill, you probably should take the point away from Focused gaze. Although it adds a lot of damage to the ability, it also adds a 4 s cool down. Take it away and make it spammable.
Doom bolt, although a really nice spell, doesn’t synergize well with the rest of your poison/acid build. Personally, I would up the skills in DEE before adding a skill like Doom Bolt in (if at all). Some people will take doom bolt but only put 1 point in it to use for devotion procs (devotions with a % change to trigger increase that % to trigger with skills that have a cool down)… With 5 points spent there, it doesn’t look like that is what you are doing. How is your devotion set up? Your grimcalc only has your skills…
I would also try to finish your OCC mastery and soft capping possession. The damage absorption will help a lot. Also it is a nice damage boost.
I completely missed the fact that that skill added a CD to DEE. That will make a huge difference. I only took doom bolt because I needed something to cast other than my debuff and DEE. I’ll get rid of it and make DEE spammable like you said, that will likely make a huge difference. I’m not casting half the time set up like this.
My devotions have all acid/poison stuff and I had triggered effects attached to the debuff and my aura, both triggering very seldom. Off the top of my head, I have the rat / manticore and skull constellations. I just need to figure out what skills to attach them to.
One suggestion. Leave doom bolt alone unless you build around it. You can leave it at one point adn with + skills it’s enough for trash. Use those points to hurry up maxing you occultist mastery bar then MAX Possession. It’s very good for the path youve chosen, and many others. You get 12% damage absorb (more with +skills) which will make you much tankier. You won’t like ultimate without this skill. You also get also chaos resis which is very handy and offensively you also get a lot of +% Poison damage. You can also take 3 points out of terrifying gaze to hurry this up and return to this skill later.
