First Ultimate Character

For the first time, I got a character to level 90+ and started on Ultimate. I came back to GD after spending a lot of time in PoE Delve and wanted to see if I could hit endgame this time. This is my second character overall after getting my Reaper to Act 6 on Elite and giving up on him.

This time around I decided to focus on cold/lightning with a TSS Druid. I put some time into the Grim Tools build calculator and ended up with this for mastery and devotion: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4ZDXrj8Z

I bought 40 potions of clarity, as many mandates as I had unlocked, and stashed all of my Reaper’s consumables. The build ended up being all around better, capable of clearing packs with ease, killing act bosses in ~10 casts of TSS, stunlocking some dangerous Hero mobs, and doing elite Shaper of Flesh deathless.

I can’t wait to see what kind of drops I get from ultimate and Crucible; hopefully one is an upgrade to my yellow helmet. I’m still not finished with this character, but I figured now would be as good a time as any to share my experience as a (relatively) new GD player.

Gratz! I’ve just gotten a couple of characters to Elite, so I’m looking forward to the next difficulty level with them.

Hey, that’s awesome! Congratulations on a successful character upgrade

My first good character was a TSS Druid named Karl (after my disastrous first AAR sorcerer, Hal) so I have a soft spot for that class and build design

Update on my Ultimate experience. I got a Mythical Avatar of Mercy to drop and used the max res increase + circuit breaker to clear 1-100 Gladiator and all roguelikes on the TSS Druid! The flow of Legendary drops has slowed down now that all questlines have been completed and most of the one shot chests have been looted, but Ultimate is still noticeably better for drops overall.

Any good, non-Crucible locations I should check out for farming?

Thanks. Cold/lightning TSS being a non-conversion spell build makes it an amazing beginner build.

I’m already starting on my next character, a Firestrike Purifier, and the leveling experience is much different using a weapon damage based skill.

The roguelike dungeons are good. Steps of torment being the easiest one. They all have guaranteed legendary drops.

I am surprised you are doing well with a TSS build. In my experience TSS is not a great skill for levelling but it gets much better with end game legendaries and more cdr.

You might want wendigo totem and maiven sphere at some point, they will really help against nemesis bosses and secret bosses (not sure how a TSS druid fares vs those though). Overload only gives very small damage increases and so is next to worthless.
