Just want to make sure I am not being a total idiot:
The game guide states: “Damage on equipment comes in two forms: Flat Damage and Percent Damage.” It goes on to say: “Flat Damage applies only to your weapon attacks and does not increase the damage from your skills unless they include a % Weapon Damage component.”
Fair enough.
The game guide makes no mention of flat damage that may come from abilities.
So for skills that do not deal %WD, e.g. Storm Totem or Devastation, does bonus flat damage from abilities (including auras from component skills) positively affect these skills, or no?
Thanks in advance
Flat damage is added to your weapon damage, thus only boosting skills/spells with a weapon damage component. % damage affects everything.
If the flat damage from a spell like AAR did not effect the damage of that skill, it would do no damage. Of course the skills listed flat damage affects the skill.
Though flat damage on a buff will add that damage to your weapon damage, just like flat damage on armor adds to your weapon damage.
Thanks much, I think I have it now.

Yes, of course. I meant things such as auras, Stormcaller’s Pact, standing in Seals, etc.
