We really need a brick road upgrade that gives a large boost to movement speed for when we get our cities big. at 1500 people it’s really getting hard for things to get build just due to travel times.
I’d rather they implement better transport options such as using horses and coaches for long-distance travel. It starts to strain the realism a bit when roads give villagers speed superpowers. I guess it depends how fast you’re thinking they should move on roads.
that’s also a good solution.
carts being able to bulk transport construction goods would be nice too.
I’d like to see wider roads also, as trying to align two roads anywhere close to each other is almost impossible and also doesn’t actually achieve anything, but with a huge population watching people streaming thru little tiny narrow roads and gates is a bit comical. I have taken to making ‘passing places’ using the small paved squares to at least make it look a bit less ridiculous in crowded huge towns but it doesn’t actually affect much apart from wagons appearing to turn around better.
It is already possible to make parallel roads. Just press shift while placing a road along another road and you get a road which runs parallel to the other one, just in the close cell rows/colums. The use of shift is also allowing us to make straight roads (with no curves) at different angles than 0 and 90.
