I used the terrain leveling tool to create a military base with only 1 entrance for the enemy.
However, when everything was almost done and I led the enemy troops in to test, I discovered that the Forts and Towers do not attack enemies.
I made sure to turn the Towers back on (in the picture I turned them off temporarily to save gold when there was no war). I had a lot of bows, crossbows, arrows. The guards also went inside the Towers. The same thing happened to the archers in the Forts.
My friends when building according to this model, everything worked normally.
I even suspected that because the Forts and Towers were placed too high to shoot arrows down, so I tried building 3 lower Towers but still no arrows were fired.
Below is the saved I uploaded to mediafire.
Thank you!
When you built your towers which way was the green arrow pointing? I don’t know if that makes a difference but it may mean your guards can’t get into their towers, which is happening a lot to mine, there has to be a clear space between the tower and and any walls I surround them with.
As in this picture: the watchtowers on the right edge have no path, but the remaining towers and Forts will have the path that I marked in red, the archers will definitely approach and get inside.
Thanks for the report and the save. I loaded it up, turned most of the towers back on, waited for guards to arrive to them, and had a raid come from that direction. The towers did fire arrows at the raiders both the top and bottom ones.
For the most part things seem to be working correctly. I did observe a scenario at some of the extreme heights where the arrows may make contact with the terrain before hitting a raider at the base of the hill, but as the raider travels up the ramp, the arrow’s trajectory will end up avoiding the terrain and hitting the raider.
First of all, thank you very much for your prompt reply.
So in this case, I just need to lower the terrain height a bit and my defense system will work normally, right?
Best regards!
Well I mention the arrows hitting the terrain as its something I noticed that is not desirable, but I believe your main issue was that the towers were not firing arrows at all? I wasn’t able to reproduce that.
When you toggled your towers back on and saw that guards were assigned, are you sure they were inside the tower before the raiders came within their range?
Yes, I’m sure the archers went to the watchtowers. I remember asking the guards at the lowest watchtower to retreat when it was about to be destroyed by the enemy.
But anyway, I’m very grateful for your quick reply. If I encounter a similar situation in the future, I’ll save the game file at that time and send it back to you. That way, it’ll be more certain.
Sounds good. Its also possible that the game encountered an error and had more things stop working as a result of it. A save and re-load to see if it fixes the issue would be a good first test for that issue if you encounter it again.
