Vanquisher mode is too easy to conquer.
The beginning of the game is very interesting but the later the game, the challenge becomes less and less and after the settlement enters the 40th or 50th year, the game becomes bland and boring. Farthes Frontier will not be able to enter the temple of legends if it continues like this.
Instead of changing the Vanquisher mode, I suggest adding a fourth mode and temporarily naming it “Purgatory”. This will be the mode where the challenge is pushed to the limit.
Here are the things I want in this mode:
- About natural disasters, fires, epidemics
-
Crazy snowstorms can happen from October to March (don’t forget the game setting is medieval Europe and this is the Little Ice Age). When a snowstorm occurs, people cannot leave their houses, firewood is consumed twice as much as when there is no snowstorm, crops stop growing, and crop yields decrease sharply.
-
Lightning is no longer just for fun. The rate of lightning strikes is 10 times higher than it is now. When lightning strikes, it will cause a damaged area with a diameter of 3 squares. If there are people in this range, they will be struck to death by lightning, if it is trees, they will be burned to ashes, if it is houses, they will be on fire. At one time, there can be many lightning strikes at the same time.
-
The rate of fires occurring has increased by 3 times compared to the current rate, and the amount of water needed to extinguish them is doubled. Particularly for structures using firewood, coal, and warehouses storing firewood and coal, this rate has increased by 5 times.
-
Droughts occur more frequently than at present.
-
The rate of disease occurrence for humans is 3 times higher than it is now, the spread rate of infectious diseases such as Influenza, Smallpox, Bubonic Plague… is 3 times higher than it is now. If infected with an infectious disease and there is no more room in the hospital or no medicine, the infected person will definitely die.
-
The rate of disease of crops in the fields is double compared to now. Fruit trees and livestock can also be infected
- Wild animals
-
The movement speed of bears and wolves is 2 times higher than it is now. Villagers have almost no chance of escaping them.
-
The appearance rate of bears is 5 times higher than it is now, but in return, they will only appear from the edge of the map and gradually move to the center of the map, especially they will prioritize targeting bee farms and warehouses to plunder and only leave after they are full (10 food units). If not destroyed, their numbers will increase continuously but not more than 10% of the settlement’s population
-
Wolves live in large packs: 15-20 animals/pack. They also need to eat. If they are hungry, they will leave their dens and organize attacks in packs with the priority target being natural deer herds and livestock farms and only leave after they are full. A year, a wolf needs to consume 1 deer or 1 goat or 1/4 cow or 4 chickens. Fences are useless against them. If they encounter people, they will gather the entire pack to attack. Only wolf dens on the mountain ranges at the edge of the map cannot be destroyed.
- Raiders, Invaders
-
Raiders and Invaders will attack every year instead of every 2-3 years as they do now
-
Raiders are lightly armed troops: wooden mace soldiers, wooden swords + shields, light cavalry, bows and arrows, no catapuls, rams or heavy troops
-
Raiders will only appear from year 3 to year 29. Starting with 10 raiders in year 3 and increasing by 10 each year.
-
When a raider has stolen 10 units, he will immediately run away. But raiders who have not stolen enough will continue to steal until they have stolen enough or are destroyed.
-
Invaders will no longer demand gold tribute, on the contrary, they will only stop after being destroyed or when the entire settlement and villagers have been destroyed.
-
The Invading Army is an elite army, consisting only of heavy infantry, heavy cavalry, with spearmen to counter the settlement’s cavalry, all archers are equipped with crossbows, 10% of the total army are catapuls, 10% of the total army are rams.
-
The Invading Army begins to attack from the 30th year with a starting number of 100 and increases by 10 each year until the 59th year. From the 60th year, the number of Invading Army increases by 20 people / year, reaching a peak in the 99th year. From the 100th year onwards, if the number of Invading Army < the number of villagers in the settlement, the number of Invading Army will = the number of villagers in the settlement.
- New achievements added:
- 30th anniversary of the settlement in “Purgatory” mode
- 60th anniversary of the settlement in “Purgatory” mode
- 100th anniversary of the settlement in “Purgatory” mode
- 200th anniversary of the settlement in “Purgatory” mode
- 500th anniversary of the settlement in “Purgatory” mode
- 1000th anniversary of the settlement in “Purgatory” mode
- Accumulate 1,000,000 gold in “Purgatory” mode
- There is no option to reduce the difficulty in “Purgatory” mode, and there is no option for peaceful mode.
If these requirements are too much and cannot be included in the official version 1.0. I would be happy to accept them in the DLC version of the game
