Game no longer starts after 1008, help plz

Hi, I am not able to get Steam to do anything, other than send me here. I finally got a chance to fire up the patch and I get failed to start msg.

I do not see any post with this issue, so can someone point me in the right direction. It seems to me a msg that starts with Steam Error, failed to start game, is a steam problem.

However, I am not able to file a ticket with them. The game had played fine forever and I was playing frequently. The popup did send me to steam support, eventually the say go to Crate.

Hope someone has an answer. BTW would it be worth trying to run Repair? I would normally just reinstall, but I am not sure about losing data. I understand the cloud has some saves, but not all that confident in Steam.

AFAIK saves should be in My Documents/my games/grim dawn regardless if you have cloud saving on or not, so it will not hurt to back those files up, just in case.

But yes, run the Repair.exe from the GD installation directory. This has been helping a lot of people to run the game after the 1.0.0.8 release.

Well it turns out Norton was the problem. I finally got the exe out of quarantine.
