It might be total garbage idea but i was thinking of the gear you like but have no use for you could give/equip it to npcs and pets.
I see a few good faction npcs who fight the environment, would be cool if you could give them better gear and maybe get reputation for it.
Equipping pets could be cool to BUT im really not sure how that would work except maybe in the armour department as far as i know all pets are animal like… Ive not been playing long so im stabbing at the dark.
Actually, it’s not a bad idea, at least I don’t think it is.
But maybe it would be good for another ARPG and not Grim Dawn, and the main reason I’m saying that it’s because of engine limitations. I’m no programmer, but implementing something like this would be easier if the developers were developing the game with that feature in mind. And Grim Dawn is already a finished game, implementing something like this at this rate may be impossible.
I’m saying that only for pets/minions though, I don’t see the necessity of equipping NPCs in this game.
The pets may need more management options indeed, but this needs to be done properly to make some sense:
The main problem is: If you add an inventory for the pets, what happens to the items you gave to a given one when it dies?
Is it going to drop? Is it going to be lost? Is it going to stay in the inventory, and just remain inactive until the pet is summoned again? Or is it going to be available back to some pet master somewhere, from which you will have to purchase them again somehow in order to reequip your pet?
Since the game is unclear on how much serious the pets option is supposed to be, there just seems to be no way to see those options in the near future. All builds can basically get some pets to some extend, but most of them won’t be able to boost them much beyond equipping themselves with to all pets bonuses and maybe assigning strictly offensive devotion abilities to them. There is no character attribute features for the summoners, no character profile with some stats for the pets, most devotions abilities cannot be assigned to pets, and the abilities of the devotions focused on pets bonuses actually have no operational value for the pure summoners (those who have no attack by themselves and are not supposed to get much hit), as much as are some abilities granted by items that can summon stuff (which appear to be mostly dedicated to melee builds).
Considering this, your pets are basically nothing more but sort of living spells that move and attack by themselves until they die and that’s all… So unless there is some plan someday to release a summoner oriented new mastery and/or to redesign the builds to have more options into pets, that kind of idea is probably not going anywhere here.
What could happen is that it becomes a sacrifice not for the pet but for the spell, so you would sacrifice the armour or weapons thus losing them permanently but gaining a permanent boost to that pet spell.
Yellow items could give 1 point either armour or attack.
Green gives 3
Blue gives 5
Legendary could give a 7 stat increase or allows you to increase there magic damage ( again just throwing ideas out there)
