Goofy Builds/Chars from ARPGS

This is one of the finest builds from days of yore…

The Boogermancer!

Back in the halcyon days of Diablo II, the double-throw Barbarian was probably my last build, and probably the only Barb I made that had 0 problems with killing ol’ Firepuppers hisself.

Around b24/25 (iirc), there were some spectacularly funny builds made around Shadow Strike/Night’s Chill/Quickjacks. Granted, one of the things that made it so funny was listening to the player’s banter in his vids (nao watch me toss dis guy’s salad BOOM!)

I’m trying to collect enough gear that procs Elemental Seal/Arcane Blast to try on a gunslinger Elementalist or Battlemage (haven’t played with Inquisitor enough yet to get a grasp on how it would work, probably really well). I dunno, the idea of having gear-procced damage sources as a primary means of destruction - just tickles me somewhere in the sub-cockles area.

The fact that on screen it looks like I’m importing some hardcore raver disco-biscuit into the world of Cairn is just icing on the cake. Find me a celestial ability that looks like a laser display…

Going all the way back to Diablo I, I had a fighter who found something called ‘Jester’s Maul’. 2H weapons by and large stunk out loud in that game. This one did +1-500% damage per hit. I dropped 20 oils of sharpness on it and kept making boss runs to see how few hits I could kill Diablo. I think 4 was the best I ever did.

Wizards or whateverthehell they were called in D I were intensely aggravating at the end game. The most powerful spells were fire spells, which Diablo was immune to/mostly immune to. The crappiest spell in the game was something like ‘shocking bolt’ (I always called it Thunderpants, 'cuz it looked like you were crapping lightning bolts out from under your robes), that just kicked out a few little lightning bolts that meandered along the floor, following random paths, and did negligible damage. Until you started upping the level of the spell. At high levels, it put out staggering amounts of damage, there were more bolts, and they went further. Killed Diablo from around a corner with that one…

I am playing a apostate with two arcanum sigillis, inquistors seal and elemental storm. When the procs go off you cant see anything. The enemies are hidden in all the visual clusterfuck. Besides, elemental seals arent particularly strong - sadly.

Sigils everywhere build is quite fun

Legion hat, Rover scepter, 2x signet of damned, X of annihilation offhand, the ground glows red always

Combine that with Dark one set for defensive aspects and you have a legit build

Back in D2 I once built a jump barbarian. He killed with leap attack, but that had a synergy, the lowly ordinary jump. Jump deals no damage at all but has a hilarious knockback effect each time you land. Maxed out it pushes everything on screen, basically, to the walls and corners of the room. If you execute a series of short jumps in the center of a room in a few seconds every enemy is pushed into the walls and your friends can pick them off easily. Very funny and in fact broken, but that’s D2 balance for you.

Dude, I forgot all about that. Lol…

Ive been messing around with the Boogermancer in Grimtools, just piling on Acid/Poison damage and duration. So far got about 2700% damage and 540ish duration. The toon is made of paper, though. Fun to mess around with but I lack anything even remotely related to theorycrafting ability so I doubt I can ever make it something worthy of mention, lol

Either way, it’s kinda fun to play around with in game.

I dunno. Most of the builds that get hype on this board are the top-tier farming builds for running… well, you know. But the board gets lots of views, so I think there’s def a place for more casual builds that are fun to take through the MC on Normal/Veteran just to see what they do. Boogermancer falls in there, for sure.

My most gimmicky character from Diablo II was a full defensive Paladin. I maxed Holy Shield and the Defiance aura and would just stand in front of Baal’s throne and let his summoned minions wail on me until everyone else killed them. My friend had a fully decked out Bowazon with either Windforce or a BotD bow and when we dueled, guided arrow would be blocked/miss me because my defense/armor was so high. Because it was guided, it would then turn around and attempt to hit me again. This would repeat until it managed to fall into the 1-3% (actually 25%, I think) chance to hit me and I’d die, because Bowazons. Dueling Barbarians was a riot.

This thread delivers (watch Awesomepossum’s videos. Funny AF)
