I am rocking Ascendant with my Ludrigan druid (Druid, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.5) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator yeah, I still can’t find the Celestial Stone of Halakor and yes I play solo with 0 mods. About 10000 hours on the clock since 2018) and trust me only Grava’Thul manages to one-shot me except for Beronath, if you are not careful of course.
On the other hand, I am loving the FoA content and the ascendant stuff - absolute pleasure!

You could do some skill point optimizations
(inner focus 15/12 is just +1% spirit compared to 14/12) i.e. 11 spirit
I agree about Inner focus as it can be optimized, but I just happen to have that sick Benn Jahr shoulders, which by the way are double rare ascended 
and all the gear combined gets me 14 Storm totem skills.
That means you only have to put 12 points in skill to get it to rank 26
Max overcap of skills is +10 (storm totem 16 + 10 = 26)
The numbers are red cause they signal massive overcap without taking any effect.
Scaling only goes to the +10 overcap.
